How was that to install? Do you have to go inside/under dash or, is it in the engine bay?

    I had to ask. Thanks!
But, no thanks. No fucking way I'm pulling my dash apart. I almost had a panic attack pulling my plastic front end apart to install the winch & bumper.
I can just trouble myself to push the button. Or not.

There’s only one way to settle this for city driving. At the track.

Anyone with those aftermarket tunes want to meet up at Irwindale Speedway for a dash to the 1/8 mile mark?

I’m down to represent The Topanga Launch Mode aka ECT PWR.

I can neither participate nor am I qualified (too many mods). However, I would suggest:

    1. Gen 3's only, auto trans of course, model year unimportant.
    2. All TSB's up to date.
    3. Vehicles otherwise as OEM as possible or, similarly equipped (same drive line/cab/bed configuration, tire size, any significant added weight).
    4. Control: Essentially OEM, no tune.
    5. Variable: Essentially OEM with OTT, OV, Or KD tune.

Post results with video? This should prove very popular:popcorn:

Yes, as equal as possible. If mine ain’t equal enough, I’ll be glad to drive the ECT participant around to show her/him the magic.

How about starting a new "challenge/test" thread in the main forum? See if there's any takers?

I also feel like mine does nothing, but I don't drive conservatively at all. I always mash the gas pretty hard from a stop to get her going. If I was more gentle with the gas peddle I think I would feel a difference.

I have a competition meet this Sunday in Tuolumne. I have to put all my effort into that and North Fork the week of the 4th for the next two weeks I’ll be signing off.

In the meantime, there is plenty of time for someone to accept. I have the stock SR5 package less the RCI (can’t recall the company) skid plate. Thasit.

But if anyone does not accept, I’ll be more than happy to show peeps that are in the San Fernando Valley/Ventura/Santa Clarita what I experience. I’m willing to spend my time to show how effective it can be for city driving. And alls it takes is a simple push or mod if you go that way.

I experimented with the ECT button on with my 4 cylinder. Yes the engine revs more between shifts but I didn't get the feeling the engine was straining in the higher gears. and on my apx 10 mile drive to work and back on city streets with minimal stops in S5 gear I got better gas mileage than when i was in just D and no ECT. There are 2 hills i have to go up and when in D the transmission has to upshift but in ECT and S5 usually the transmission hasn't shifted out yet so it's not lugging and straining.

I used to to do this. It was better than driving in normal. Then I went and got a tune. I can't tell you what a difference it makes. All ETC does is change the shift points. A tune will smooth out the entire power curve and give you more power as well as torque. It also cures the issue of the ransmission constantly shifting. 300.00 for a good tune is probably the best mod you will ever do to yur truck.
Check out these tunes KDMax pro+xt; and OTT both on here and searchable on the web for details.

I don't sell them ordo I install tunes, but I do have one of these tunes and I feel the need to proclaim the good news, as it were.

before my tune I always ran S5 and ECT ON....
after tuning I use it occasionally but don't really need it.
I just use Drive (learn mode) and when the truck feels sluggish just romp on it here and there or use ECT and Drive.
Like we all know these trucks like high rpm's to max out the enjoyment of them.
They definitely don't drive like a traditional AUTO at least mine didn't even after tuning it gets wonky.:burnrubber:
