Just got done Big Levels and I think I might be justified in getting a snorkel......just don't know if I dig the look.

Nope. That's a pretty good representative of where she sleeps when I'm in here. I have to remember to look before I move the chair.

Same thing happened to me, just not as much. The is an intake relocation mod to the cowling intake for the cabin air system that I was thinking about. I'll have to search to find it again, but it on TW.

Today I've been reading the threads on the cowl intake and it looks appealing =cheaper+no alteration to the looks of the truck. Regardless, I have to do something because hyrdolocking my engine is an experience I'd like to avoid.

How much tread is on them, and would you sell just 1?

I look at snorkels as more of a need than anything else. I dont really care if it looks obnoxious, its not like my truck doesnt stand out as is.

I originally got the snorkel due to my plan on running 35s, and was aware ahead of time that the fender liners were gonna have to go

I also got a snorkel sort of out of necessity-ish too. I'm only so-so on how the snork looks. Sometimes it's badass, sometimes is truck-bro. I'm not a big fan of attention and my 4runner is a tad incognito with flush-to-flare tires and factory-ish wheel well gaps, but definitely get more looks with the snorkel.

I have very minimal liner left, and I'm ready to rip what is left out because it does rub the plastic a tad on full bump. There is the cowl intake mod/internal snorkel option, but I had a 4runner buddy still manage to get his air filter wet at AOAA with the internal so that was a slight turn off for me. Not sure if he did it wrong or what. We did unintentionally find some water under 4" of ice, so that could have been another factor lol

It may get caught on trees in tight trails, especially here on the east coast. Haven't had that issue yet, but that's the major downside from a practicality lens

Edit: I also drive with the head forward all the time, even in a bunch of rain. I've pulled the filter afterwards and it feels like it's been sucking in humid air, but it's never like wet, wet.

Also should be noted that the water benefit is really for preventing splash and mud from getting in the intake (which sounds like your use-case anyway). Not really like an actual snorkel that one would use for looking at pretty underwater rocks.

Technically it's a "desert air intake." For some reason Toyota gets fussy about the semantics, probably because they don't want to imply it will prevent hydrolock.

Edit: I personally plan to use the cowl induction method. I don't plan on fording thru water features that would put my hood underwater. But we go through enough streams/water holes that put the wheels underwater and makes my pucker muscle start to quiver.
