Yes, it is a pain in the ass to remove this actuator! I had to do it twice because I missed the sleeve inside the differential the first time. I am sure I invented some swear words when I realized my mistake... I had to remove the actuator to tap the fitting into it, mainly because I didn't have lift and I am losing dexterity in my hands. Rolling around on the ground to fix this thing was no fun.

Let me see if I can Google an image of the fitting I used. Looking back, I actually advise against tapping the housing. Drill a hole just large enough to get the fitting in and seal it with JB Weld. The threads on the fitting will trap enough of the JB Weld to provide a good seal. Mine seems to be pretty solid, at least for now... I would have replaced it, but I just don't have the bread to buy a new one.

On the sleeve there’s two edges that stick out and about 1/4” between them. I’m assuming the fork goes there right? I took a half sss pic when I took mine out but it was hard to get a good one

This is an old thread so the member you quoted likely won’t reply. I can’t exactly remember from when I did mine, but you’ll know if you fuck it up….4wd indicator won’t light up and the motor housing on the new actuator will get really hot while you scratch you head, wondering what you did wrong.

I think there are some pictures floating around in here, possibly in the 2nd gen section, that should help you figure it out.

I’ve been looking for those photos. I got mine on but it won’t engage. The sleeve or fork is binding even though I get between the walls of the sleeve
