Ok for those not in the other thread. From hence forth the rim area from woods canyon lake back to knoll lake will be referred to as Sycamore North. Spread the word.

This has been a friendly public service announcement from myself and @TailHook

Just got back from hiking down to clear creek from the "clear creek trailhead" i.e. not one of the "numbered" ones. Fun/mild offroad drive for about 7 miles to the trailhead. Insane hike, literally 600+ feet of elevation gain/loss via 3 foot tall rock steps the entire way. Probably shouldn't have had the dog. She barely made it and that was with me lifting her over about 100 obstacles. Very difficult hike but WOW was it worth the suffering. Creek was cold and flowing. Air was 80 and breezy. Lots of little fishies everywhere, I think some kind of trout but they all look the same to me. Didn't see a single soul. Insane for Arizona in summer. Only took about 6 hours round trip from Flagstaff.

Rad little natural arch crammed with rocks/trees from days of massive water flow. It was just clear enough to climb through.

I’ve done both ways, west and east clear creek and can agree the descents into them are no joke, plus add on 50lb or so of camping gear for 2-3 nights and those step downs from rock to rock as they switch back and forth can be rough.

What other trailheads have you accessed the creek from? Im interested in checking out more spots but there are so many to choose from.

There was a guy at the trailhead who was telling there is a spot from this same trailhead where you can rappel into the canyon instead of hiking down. Said the last rappel is 180 feet and you go straight into the water at a waterfall so you have to put all your shit into dry bags and just go for it. Sounds like something @MR E30 should do and post pics ha

Atl that is beautiful. I'll show it to the lady, I see a day trip in our future!

Yep, there is a canyon there with a nice 180' rappel into that water. I haven't done it yet, but it is on the list.

I am currently prepping for one of the best canyons in the world. Insanely long rappel. So damn long that I need a ~$1,000 rope to do it (it can be done with the ropes we have already, but transitioning past a knot while on an overhanging rappel is level 4 out of 5 when it comes to canyoneering, too dangerous for everyone else in my usual party).

Wait until you find out what I have planned for the next time I get to the Top of the World! I'd be slightly surprised if it's ever been done before.
