Just getting everything lined up to do the install. Been sitting on it for just about a year. Wow busy or lazy I guess.

So I read the 3/4 punch works best for putting holes in the plastic rail, is that still the consensus?
Also read the roof nut in the Tacoma roof are a M6 x 1.0 thread pitch.
My rack came with bolts M6 x .75 thread pitch.
Did I get sent the wrong ones or are they correct?

@gmartin284 can you confirm that the cross bars are slotted to allow hardware install for mounting accessories on top?

You can use a 3/4" punch to make holes or you can cut completely through the weather stripping on either side of the spacer, this method leaves a bit more room for error.

As for the hardware, the bolts that came with the rack should be correct. If not, please let me know.

Yes, the crossbars are 10 series extrusions and have t-slots for mounting on all four sides.

And mounting hardware can be installed with the crossbars fully installed onto the rack? I.e. i can add or take away hardware with the rack already installed?

Yep, you'll just need to use drop-in style tnuts like in the link below!

    Installed.
    Looks great.

I was worried when it arrived, though.

    IMG_1006.jpg

But it was packed really well.

I ordered some drop in nuts that were mentioned earlier in this thread...
    https://www.tnutz.com/product/db-010-ss/
    IMG_1017.jpg
But I don't like the lack of surface engagement. They seem to be too small for this channel. Anyone try a larger drop in style nut for better surface contact?

What are you planning to mount with the drop-in tnuts? I've used them for years to mount my kayaks without issue. You also can use some 1/4" carriage bolts though, which would have more surface engagement in the slot.

Mostly kayaks, rooftop cargo, camping, lumber/construction materials. I’m just thinking about using screw down rings and whatever options for various and sometimes random loads.
I have added some carriage bolts with rings.

I like options but this is good to know you’ve had no issues.

My background is industrial design and fabrication so I tend to be overly picky on how things fit together sometimes.
    Thanks again! Great rack.

Love this rack!) Thank you Gage! For the weather stripping I marked the back and cut the ss spline off first then hole punched the top. Worked great and looks good. I use the slide in economy t-nut’s to secure my rack accessory’s. Super easy to take off a side and add if needed. You definitely need the weather striping! https://www.amazon.com/80-20-Inc-As...bc1-4536-8da6-d6b6d899f972&pd_rd_i=B00FDSEOWY

Whats wrong with that? Is basically the same product, made in USA at a lower price.

Get over it dude. It might be similar in design but to be counterfeit it would have to be sold with intent to deceive it is the other product.
