I got some of the stuff and a road map for the rest...
Slept in my cap tent for the 1st time. It is OK, but kinda hard to use the zippers because of the Decked drawers. Also, headroom is very limited.

Set up camp in the dark, this is how I found it in the morning.

Nice Turtleback. Those things cost a mint, but sure seem to be built nice. Hows it tow? Heard fully loaded and carrying water your looking at around 3.5k lbs.

We are heading out tomorrow morning for Devils Lake State park in Wisconsin for a single night stayover to break up the drive and let us fill up the water tank. From there we are heading up into the Ottawa Ntnl forest for some dispersed camping, noting several sites via Long/Lat

Awesome! We have been dispersed camping in a LOT of places, but have never camped in Michigan, so should be interesting an super fun. The UP looks super sparse and rugged, right up our alley.

Although we did look at Turtlebacks, AT (both Horizon and Chaser), Bean, Black Series, Bruder, Teton as well as Conqueror, this is an "Off Grid" brand trailer, in our case an Expedition 2.0 that we settled on.
I sold my beloved 1968 Olds 442 in order do get it, and yes it was a ridiculous amount of money for what most would consider a "toy", but its changed our lives significantly for the better as far as vacations go.

Its a 2019, and we towed it 25,000 miles with our 2013 5-speed man JKRU without a re-gear, and towing on the highway was acceptable. Not perfect but it did Ok, especially if we didnt have the 32 gal water tank full, or have massive headwinds.
We've only taken the one trip to NM so far with the Taco (100% stock atm) but it towed great for the entirety of the nearly 3,000 miles.

Off road, the DCLB towed awesome, I just need to invest in some more MTs after a lift.

The Expedition 2.0 is 100% powder coated aluminum with the exception of the boxed steel frame so its around 1800lbs dry. ATM, the trailer has way more clearance than the Taco has, but ive got some 285/70/17s to go with the 285/75/17s Ill be putting on the Taco. For now, they both are in basically in stock configuration.

As to the weight, the tongue weight is significantly higher than the advertised 290, and loaded with a queen sized bed, shower, furnace, x2 AGM marine batteries, front basket w/solar suitcase, 260-something lbs of water and tables + a full 270 awning we are usually anywhere from 2800lbs to 3200lbs.

The Taco didnt get super great gas mileage but better than we had expected, averaging 9mpg out (with a bad headwind most of the way and a full water tank) and around 12.5 coming back with no headwind and an empty water tank.

So after forgetting the electric grinder which sucks cause you gotta start the truck OR a time consuming hand grinder we went with this! Battery powered USB charging portable grinder. Fine to course.

Good setup you have there. How are you liking the roadhouse? I have that tarp also but have yet to use it in the field

Thank you! It's awesome! Do a couple dry run setups in your yard or driveway 1st. This time we had to setup in the rain and we were rushed... It stayed put in crazy wind and heavy rain.

I set it up in the driveway a few times. Love all the options. A 270 would be nice but not an option with the softopper and a rack over it isn't an option for me. This is way more coverage too!

My thoughts too. Best option IF some coverage from rain, wind or sun is needed. We don't setup if we don't need it.

is that a camp chef pro 60? ive been eyeing those for awhile and want to pull the trigger, but havent heard anything positive about it. and they just came out with the new tundra, which looks very similar with the exception of the side table arm things.

how small does it pack up? can you store it on its side when its packed?

LOVE it. Cant imagine camp without it. Got the 14" griddle too. I don't use pans anymore.. lol It's cumbersome and a bit heavy for a small trip but we are planning some major trips, so it's justified. I use it at home too!
I store it on it's side in the trailer. Sorry, only pic I have of it in the trailer.IMG_2444.jpg

Oh man I'm really tempted to place an order.

How you're storing it looks like how I want to store mine also. i'm using a coleman road trip and its so big bulky and awkwardly shaped you cant really stack anything on it and cant put it on it's side.

Our passion is cooking so we gotta have a good method when camping. Wish i had a pic in use but too busy cooking.. lol This camping trip we had to remove our 5lb tanks from the trailer due to rain, usually we would have this connected to the trailer. This one closed, sits well on any side. You can lay it flat and stack stuff on top. Really sturdy and the flames are HUGE. Definitely get the cast iron griddle.IMG_2913.jpg

Another pic. Cook top stored on left.

New Braunfels TX. Took a family trip, had water and electricity hook up, total of maybe 25 family members? Small little private area with an area gated off.

Decent cool evenings by the river, daytime not so much but floating the river is fun when you have a group.
