Jim Pas got the gift for the most active TTA group member in May. The May prize was this tool bag and three JIS drivers from Japan.

We're aiming to give away a tool bag with JIS drivers each month to the most active member during the previous month.

Both tool bags and JIS drivers are intended to be something out of the ordinary. The JIS drivers are relevant for a Japanese vehicle. Jeepsters or domestics just won't understand the importance.

 

Ok so.... Clue the rest of us in. What's the importance of a JIS driver?

 

Sure thing. Most Phillips-looking screws on a Japanese vehicle are not really Phillips at all. JIS is for Japanese Industrial Standard that has a different bit shape.

Here's a video that explains the difference. I rounded a number of JIS screws while trying to use Phillips on Japanese vehicles until I learned the difference.

Yes, they did. They are great to work with. I have a few more to confirm with specific details. Three are "brick and mortar" local businesses.

I have an 8 ft CB whip antenna with a heavy duty mount free to a good home. Intended for my Taco but never got around to installing it before I sold the truck.

 

So I registered myself and my dad, both under my email address. Does that still count as both of us being in the raffle?

 

Also, we depart from Maui, HI tonight and I just wanted to report the Toyota family is strong out here. About every truck you see is a Tacoma, and tons of 4Runners. If any of you know about the Toyota culture in Hawaii then you probably know about the huge lifts with big wheels and skinny mud tires, or the super wide 15 inch wheels with stretched boggers. Even though it’s not really my style you have to appreciate how much time and effort goes into these builds. In some ways I’ve grown to like the style, and most lifted trucks on these islands have high end suspension setups and super expensive wheels and tires. Also I know a few of us are SCS fans and lots of trucks here actually have SCS wheels which really surprised me. Anyways I didn’t take any pictures of the big rigs since they were usually passing by, but saw this clean modest build in our parking garage, and y’all’s favorite, our rental jeep.
