Track Width Front & Rear: To be equal or not to be equal?

    I had a thought the other day about track width on my 2014 Tacoma, so I got my tape measure out. Turns out the rear track width is 1.5" wider (3/4" per side) than the front track width. My assumption, based on physics of double A-arm suspensions, is that the front track width on a lifted Tacoma is narrower than a stock height Tacoma because as A-arms move downward the spindle moves inward. My Tacoma has a 2.75ish inch mid-travel lift front and rear with SPC UCA's, OEM LCA's and swarbar removed.

    Questions:
    Is it reasonable to assume the entire inward movement of 3/4" per side is a result of the physics of lifting a double A-arm suspension?

    Does a bone stock Tacoma have equal front & rear track width? If not is the front or rear wider?

    Is there an ideal track width parameter anyone has experience with? IE rear wider than front, front wider than rear or equal.

    The bigger the difference, the more robin-like handling you are going to get. I'm no engineer, but I doubt you'll see a huge difference with a couple of inches, however.

    Good one! Yea, I assume there would be very minimal difference in cornering handling from a slight track width difference. I did own a VW/Winnebago Rialta with substantial track width difference and it was quite frankly scary as hell in deep ruts on the Interstate. The front and rear were in essence fighting over which rut they wanted to run in.
