Your ambitions and desires are so much like so many other people, myself included. Always looking for the best, never settling for "meh, it's ok I guess".

When I hear of things like this I am all :lalala: because if not I will most definitely do something stupid............

Nah - thanks though. I would have done a fork mount near the tailgate so they would fit under the soft topper. I saw a few people had done that.

haha, sort of, my goals change with what I find cheap on facebook/CL….

I’d really like to find a deep toolbox that fits my dog food container and a 26QT walmart cooler. If they can both fit in the toolbox, that would be mint. Winters I would keep snow brushes etc in there too. But, I will probably be fine with a tonneau for the winter, and it covers the whole bed for trips. I can fit it all under the tonneau just need a cargo bar rather than trying to use a strap for everything.

I feel ya. When I had my Sport, I had a Bak Revolver on it and it was awesome. Looked great, extreme security, great functionality. When I got the Pro, I bought a Softopper and it looked great but I felt like while it added some security from prying eyes, it was not completely secure. So I opted for a hard shell. I did some research and the general consensus from people that needed to or wanted to camp out of the bed was that a higher than the cab model cap was best. I agreed since I am not very nimble or small, so I picked up a used ARE MX. I refinished it and it's been fantastic. I added a shit ton of decals to make it more difficult for prying eyes to glance in and it locks.

Oh, and naturally, when we got our dogs I had to do the rear seat delete mod for them so now the cap is even more essential should I decide to haul people too. LOL

I don't think I've ever seen a tool box that big. Or a cooler that small :anonymous: that's going to be a tough one. You know, with some styrofoam, glass mat, and a drain, you could turn any size tool box into a cooler. When I was a kid, I had a 68' Fairlane station wagon. It had those rumble seats in the rear that were concealed. We removed them and did what I am saying to that compartment so that we could sneak road sodas into places it wasn't allowed.

Hah! It’s a 26 QT cooler, it fit inside the toolbox just needed another couple inches depth. Story of my life :spy:

But, part of me is also thinking, if I got a toolbox again I’d put a solar panel on top, drop a battery + fridge inside instead of a cooler. Actually TBD because that might not be the worst idea …….

Yeah I only have the rear driver seat for the “oh crap” moments when I have to take the truck with my wife. Otherwise we just take her car, it’s a hybrid so we would anyway.

Hmm. I mean, I'd just go right to my 1/2" impact with whatever impact socket you have. Not otherwise, since I never drove in a 3" zinc lag bolt to a telephone pole before.

I usually just keep that in the truck at all times for emergency use. Hasn't failed me once, except for tight spaces where it doesn't fit...

I like this one but they are out of their freaking minds. I have a breaker bar and pipes if I need more umph.

    https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCF899HB-Brushless-Lithium-Battery/dp/B01M3Q5YHD?th=1

But yea, this was my first time too, and I was 16' up a ladder installing a light on the pole. I figured a 30+ year old pole would be dry enough to make it easier. Who knew they become petrified obviously. Hell, even the 4" Spax deck screws were giving me a hard time.

I have learned recently though that the newer models of impact guns have more control and designated, friendlier user settings. Such as reducing the torque after the initial freeing of fasteners, and during installation too, and not just lowering it completely with a dial. Rigid has an economy model I may look into. Milwaukie just about tops all the lists but I am a yellow and black guy. I really like how I can use my newer 20v batts (with an adapter) in all my older stuff who's batts died a long time ago.

Growing up I was a vice grips, and duct tape kinda kid, using screwdrivers as chisels, and socket wrenches as hammers. Now I have just enough tools to do just about anything I need to do, both around the house and on the vehicles, mowers, etc. But I'm lacking a good batt impact driver, and a batt right angle socket wrench, like the M18 line. A lot of what I have is used, old, and inexpensive things, that still do the job.

Tools to me are like 4wd in a truck. Better to have it and not use it all the time than need it just once and not have it.
Over the years, I have learned that the right tool for the job makes the job easier, and for me, easier is always safer for everything/everyone around me.

Holy crap the prices are going though the roof. I bought that one on sale for like 250-300?

Yeah, I have a small number of hand tools and its enough to get most things done. I do need a right angle socket wrench that is battery operated too, but I don't really want to go down the line of getting an entire new M12 or M18 line since I have so many dewalt battery tools.

Dewalt just came out with 20v mechanics ratchets. They're still pricy at around $200 tho.
