The best tonneau cover is the Undercover Armorflex. It's got a LineX coating on the outside to prevent scratches, it's solidly built, and comes with a 10 year warranty if you get it installed by one of their preferred dealers.

I've seen a lot of love for the BakFlip cover and while watching install videos on it, directions include drilling a hole in the bed for the drain tubes. I don't have my truck yet, but I plan on getting the bakflip cover. Do I absolutely need to drill a hole in the bed? Or is there another solution?

I bought the Bakflip mx4. It allows a ridiculous amount of water into the bed, almost like there’s no cover on at all. You can’t put anything in the bed that can’t get wet. Actually I’m on my second cover from the Bakflip warranty. They sent me a whole new cover with rails and hardware which sounds great but it’s not. This time I put silicone under the mounting rails to try to prevent water from coming in, same results. They told me that my case is considered closed, so I guess for that 5 year warranty you get one replacement. I absolutely hate it!

Sounds like you got a bad one. I’ve had mine since December 2020 and my bed stays dry. Of course before installing it I researched what was needed to get a good seal and followed that when installing it.

Or a bad two. My first one was installed by a professional and I installed the second with the same results. I’m glad yours is good.

I can believe that! I have had bad luck with 2, TruXedo Lo Pro's myself. Since 2016 I have bought 5 tonneau covers. I'm going to buy 1 more cover, (NO MORE LO PRO'S)
and if I don't like the fit I'll do without one from here on out.

You can use existing holes and add barbed fittings to them or let the tubes drain under the bed mat. Some inspiration...

The Undercover Armorflex is a lot nicer. BAK has lots of issues. Many have had to make warranty claims. Some are on their 2nd or 3rd cover from them due to warranty claims.

I'm looking at tonneau covers right now for my 2020 6' bed TRD OR that comes off lease soon. Planning to buy it, so excited to start finally making it my own.

Stopped by a local truck accessories store yesterday to compare some of the brands and learned that a bunch of them are basically the same and all owned by Truck Hero. There are subtle differences between the brands, but quality looks pretty much the same and I'm guessing that service and support would all be through the parent company. If any dealers here can comment on that, please do!

I really love the look of the Diamondback covers, but I need something that can be removed pretty quickly when needed and I'm not sure if that would be the case with their covers. They're also in the price range that would get me in some trouble with the wife.

I had not yet looked at LOMAX, so I'm checking them out now and liking what I see.

The Lomax requires you to stick anchor points for the cover to the roof of your truck. Check out the Undercover Armorflex. It's simply the best hard trifold tonneau cover out there.

I don't think I have an issue with the anchor points. Similar cover at a similar price point... I'll consider it.

You are correct... many brands are under the Truck Hero parent company. However warranties are administered through the individual companies and can vary a bit as far as customer service, etc...

We carry most of the Truck Hero brands such as BAK, Undercover, Truxedo, Extang, Retrax, etc...

We also carry Lomax and its a huge seller for us and we have had great results with it for quality and customer service. One model does require brackets on the roof while all the other do not and they remove in about 30 seconds...

I have sent you a PM with some pricing for a reference point for you...

Anyone have seen peragon covers with racks? With the new system do you still need to remove the factory rails?

Will be following this thread (and others like it) closely. I have a soft roll up cover, and it's merely ok. I want something with more security and preferably water tight. Intrigued by the peragon system, was previously considering the BAK MX4 (I think that's what it's called...)

How much for a undercover flex tonneau cover for a 21 Tacoma short bed?

No cover is water tight I don't care what people on here say. The closest thing to a dry bed is a 1 piece cover by Undercover. If I had the money I would have one that matched my paint.

True. My Undercover Armorflex is almost water tight. From what I've seen in videos and from friend's covers, my Armorflex is hands down the most water tight hard trifold cover out there.

This is absolutely the best one for me. Great price and easy rolling/unrolling.
