It is not my fault you built your garage to small!!

In your area outside is not all that bad an option.

I saw far to many places with not enough cfm over the years I was so not going that way . Air Arcing uses lots of Air so do my Air grinders

My compressor sits about 20' from the bed with just one wall away if I am asleep I does not wake me up.

It comes down it works for me.

It’s about structural integrity, a rectangular tank is fine for zero pressure or just the weight of content but lousy for holding pressure because it focuses stress rather than spreading it equally over the entire surface. Pressure vessels whether from interior or exterior pressure are always spherical/cylindrical. No reason you can’t separate the compress from the tank though, just pay attention to where it might collect moisture and use filters and drains.

    Lol

One small MIG welder, one small plasma cutter, and a small welding table and small work bench.

Yes, I'd love a larger shop, more tools, etc. But I need to be realistic which is why I said 20 gallon tank.

Remote tank is possible i believe the set up is called an air reciever tank.

And the tanks are round to handle the pressure better.

No No No pressure vessels need to not have any square corners they focus the stress .

The math to figure these problems gives me a head ache.

Howdy folks. Joining this thread as I'm starting to get my hands into some welding. I've got an Eastwood MIG175 and have been practicing on some small pieces, first projects on deck for the truck are a BMC and some Marlin Crawler Alignment Tab Gussets.

Well....work as much as I have and you finally say fuck it, I'm only going to work 10-20hrs a week

    Was bored again today.

Did some TIG on pipe but that came out bad. Put argon to +35cfh since it's been stupid windy today and the door was open -

    20220622_104928.jpg

Then made another one of these to match the one from yesterday

Top one looks funky, wire speed isn't up to speed with your travel speed and heat. You moving slow? I ask cause you've got undercut here and there.

You're pretty much inline with other feedback I've been given on those welds; bump up the wire speed a bit, try to be more consistent with travel speed...
I haven't had any more time to practice since those pieces, and they were some of the first ones I've ever done, first ones ever on that machine. So, I do know I've got some things to work on, but that's why I'm here; practice, show, learn.

Instead of running different types of joints, and getting confused (or better yet, overwhelmed with settings) why not focus on 1 joint type?

Do fillet welds on a T, and practice on various thicknesses. This way you'll practice being consistent with travel speeds, and notice how a bead's profile changes when altering wirespeed and/or current. Doing all this on the same type of joint will teach you much more versus doing all sorts of different welds.

From there, move on to doing either butt welds or open corners. And play around with various settings after that with varying thickness.

When do you enough of the same joint, you'll be able to distinguish differences in what you did right or wrong. You'll even learn how travel angle comes into play.

I'm not one to really talk though as I'm a newbie welder so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I advise the same when people are learning. One variable at a time. Move to the next progressively.
