60+ year old thread.

Surgery tomorrow for "cubital tunnel syndrome" which is causing my left hand to atrophy. I'll have to publish some pics so y'all know what it looks like. Numb little finger with some residual numbness in the ring finger and complete loss of muscle between the thumb and hand. The affected left hand has only half the strength of the right. Surgery is supposed to cure the numbness and there is a chance that some strength will return, although the muscles will never reinflate.

Fun times...

 

Got a little bit ourselves. Was a nice change for a little bit.

 

And now, I don't have to water the lawn tonight!

 

Alan, don’t remember my route numbers (you have way better memory than me). My route was around the area of 35th ave. and School st. I remember those bags got heavy on double and triple insert days. Also had a shopping news route which was only 2 days a week (after my tribune route). That route was 250+ papers, it was a bitch on top of my other route. I saved the money from my routes and bought my first car at age 16. A 1959 Chevy with a big V8. A real piece of crap, broke down on the way home from the used car lot. I rebuilt or replaced everything on that car from engine , tranny, rear end and on and on.
Don’t remember the name of the ink company, it was a subsidiary of Interchem corp. it was in west Oakland in a really bad bad part of town. I worked swing shift making 500 to 1000 lb batches of different colored ink. A really physically tough job but really great pay. I was always happy when I walked to my car after midnight and it was still there and undamaged. Good memories though. Also worked at AllWork Co. where I operated a metal press stamping out car parts and at a print shop where I did such a tremendous job they fired me after 3 days. Also worked at the huge Simons Hardware where I was a stock boy. I spent most of my time flirting with the cute sale clerks and even managed to get a couple dates. Other jobs too. Definitely a trip down memory lane.

Check this guy out Al Blackman, he has worked for American Airlines since 1942 and is about 96 going on 97. Far as I know Al is still on the job.

I’ve talked to the guys at JFK and they all like Al he’s one tough SOB and a wealth of knowledge. He will help out the kids in their 50s and 60s.

I'll be in my 40th year in my place.
That's enough and I ain't looking back.
Most of the guys I came up with are gone.
Dead or retired.

LOL, when I transitioned over to the Conversational AI space I ended up working with a group of kids where I was older than all of their parents and even some of their grandparents. It was kind of fun being the token old man.

Don't have that issue.... washer takes an hour and 40 minutes per load.... and laundry takes all day....

Both my shingles shots kicked my butt for a day, but better than getting shingles

Well, the phone shelf required trimming 1/4" off the bottom of my new wall plate, but it can hold the base unit whenever, and it was a actually complimented.



The feeder changed its plan. I was "gifted" an old cutting board years ago because "you can use it the garage". Well, finally thought of a use for it. The wire basket I had screwed on the old feeder when we had unshellable nuts.



So, a little cutting and tormenting of materials later, mated up with the bought in the dark fittings, and here we go.

I made a trip to Home Depot today to get things I needed to install my new security system this weekend - a new power receptacle, box, plate, Romex wire etc. Also picked up some HVAC filters. Wanted to make sure they had it so on the HD ap I found everything and realized I could just order online and pick it up curbside so I did just that. Worked out great everything was as ordered. Though I missed out on the fun of wandering around in the dark like you did lol.

I my dad never got to really enjoy his retirement. He had a major heart attack and passed away soon after I was married. He did enjoy his family while he was here and left me prepared for life.


He used to say “ when you argue with a crazy person no one can tell the difference “ I have taken that one to heart. Especially when on the net. It translates into English funny but that’s the gist……
