I have a 2013 Tacoma with 110,000 miles on it. A couple years ago I got a notice of the offer to coat my frame with their CRC compound. Since the offer didn’t expire until this summer I figured I would wait until now. This past weekend while cleaning my garage I came across the coupon and noticed it expired just this past month. Coincidentally or maybe not, yesterday I received an updated coupon stating that the offer for the CRC application had been extended until November 30 of 2022. I’ve been doing searches trying to find out if my frame replacement warranty is still active but I cannot find anything definitive on the web. If the warranty for a new frame if it fails inspection is no longer valid, then I don’t think I will bother with the CRC. If it is still a valid warranty/recall I would have the CRC applied just to maintain eligibility for the recall… Otherwise I will just sand and paint the areas that appear to only have surface rust. Do any of you know the latest on the recall status for 2013?

Someone will be along to correct me, but the frame replacement program was never an official "recall". They should still honor it for 10 years from the date of first use of the truck, and the frame needs to have a 10mm perforation in it, or you could argue significant delamination.

I’d take it in, the CRC is applied to the inside of the box frame rails too.
You can’t just sand and paint in there.

That said, Do I think it stops the rust?
Nope, I think it helps protect it from rust “longer”.
You are still going to need do your own application/ maintenance on the frame as well.

(I guess what I saying is, the CRC will likely get you through the warranty period)

And in case you are curious, No. I haven’t had the CRC applied. My truck didn’t qualify.
I’ve used FluidFilm on it a few times (when I can remember too).

Far as I know that is the situation..you need to get the CRC done and that gets you a final inspection up to 12 years from the date the truck was first registered/titled. If you don't get the CRC you lose out on that.

I got the inspection and CRC on my 2010 about 4 years ago, and the frame failed April 2021 and was replaced.

If that was me I'd call the dealer and book the initial inspect/CRC soon as they can do it
