No worries. Not trying to spark a debate but I just want some opinions.

I sent a UOA to Blackstone when I was at 299K miles. Had approximately 4400 miles on the oil. I’ll post it here. Was using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum at the time as well and they gave me a great readout. That’s the one and only time I’ve ever sent in a used sample. I plan to do another one after a few oil changes with the Kirkland stuff, that is, of course, if I end up sticking with it or switching to something else, like a HM oil.

Not much, he attached the hose to the valve stem and fired the compressor up. After about a minute or so, kaboom. It was incredibly loud and stunk really bad!

This is way cool information. How is fuel, water and antifreeze allowed at all though? Is that common? And what is TBN? But yea, according to the should be, you're oil didn't even need to be changed! Which is an even more controversial discussion..........oil change intervals.

Damn! And the smell was likely due to the winter air you put in mixing quickly with summer air. :notsure:

I think I need a rear locker. What is my best option? I talked to Adam Britton at Freestyle Fabrication and Offroad in Churchville and he asked me if I wanted air/electric or a full Detroit locker. I dont even know what I want because I dont know enough to know. Not a hard off road guy. Fire roads and fishing but I got hung up at my brothers place in W.Va. and he told me if I had a locker he wouldnt have had to go get his Kubota tractor to pull me out. Also, I need a real recovery point. I would prefer it not be a bright color. Just want functional not flashy.
    Any advice?

Howdy peeps. Yesterday after work I decided to do some tire/wheel swapping. The 4Runner has been wandering/a bit loose in the steering lately, I wanted to see if maybe the Hankooks were just worn ( they are almost at the wear indicators, maybe a 1/16" above them) so I put the stock steelies back on the Taco and put the 5th gen T4R wheels/tires from the Taco onto the 3rd gen T4R, I really like the way that the 5th gen SR5 wheels look on the 3rd gen. What do you guys think? I also gain some much need clearance between the wheel and Tundra brake calipers.

Get a good winch. You can install it and it will probably be less money. You can even get a hitch mounted version, and put a receiver in the front too. Then you can pull yourself out.

Otherwise, I think Eaton makes a good locker, and unless you want to have to install onboard air, electrical is the other option.

More experienced people will likely have better answers. Mine is quick.

Looks like I can get an Eaton electric locker for about $1200. I really dont want to have to put an air compressor onboard.

I don't blame you. That's not included in the cost of the locker either so......

Check out East Coast Gear Supply. They are a forum favorite and a great company to deal with.

    What tires are you running?

Yezzir. No idea on fuel, water antifreeze etc etc. I guess there can be traces of those present in oil, which of course can’t be good. Not sure if it’s common though. TBN is the “total base number” and I guess in layman’s terms is basically how much life is left in the oil. Im assuming 0 means no life left, but mine was at 2.2, so I suppose that’s good. Also yes. I’ve always done changes at 5K, played around with 4K, and the longest I’ve ever gone is 5,600 I think? Either way, I’m back down to doing 4K oil changes. Gives me the tinglies so I’m satisfied. Wallet isn’t hurting because of it so I call that a win-win I suppose. Been playing around with oil filters too. Have always ran oem toyota filters, D1’s for a long time, then the D3’s the last few years. Recently been trying the Napa Gold oversized filters (1516) and so far good results.
