Maestro trouble shooting

Has anyone else ever had problems with their maestro not getting enough power in return not powering on aftermarket head unit? I’m installing a pioneer dmh-7600 and checking the wires with a multimeter I’m only pulling like 3 watts. Where do you think it could be going wrong? Bad ground? Faulty maestro module? Im just seeking advice this thing has taken me 14 hours trying to trouble shoot.

 

That’s about all the maestro itself should be pulling. It is just running the internal computer and activating a relay to trigger the red accessory wire going to the radio. The yellow wire in the harness is what the radio is getting power through

 

When talking to crutchfield support they told me I should be getting 12v between the yellow and red wires. My head unit isn’t even beginning to want to turn on.

 

Not between. You should have constant 12VDC+ between yellow and ground, and 12VDC+ between red and ground when the key is set to or past the Accessory setting.

 

Should I ground the ground wire to something other than the other ground wire the instructions tell me to? I have quadruple checked every wire I’m just not sure where I’m going wrong with this.

 

I've had it where the Maestro was restarting the whole headunit after 20 mins. I replaced the Maestro harness, bc i thought maybe i messed up soldering somewhere, I reprogramed the radio, and the Maestro a number of times. I finally got annoyed with it and ripped out the Maestro and all of it's wiring. I kept the radio 4400nex and went to AutoHarnessHouse and got one of their premade harnesses and modules for the steering wheel controls. I thought my radio was defective with the Maestro, but ever since switching to the AutoHarnessHouse it's been running perfect. Been running it for almost a year now. I've got a '21 and just wired my Pioneer with the Mastro. Are you using the HRN-RR-TO3 T-Harness, it has to be the TO3 harness. Also I notices that 2 of the the factory plugs look the same but only 1 will work. I'll see if I can get a pic of my wiring behind the dash this weekend.

 

did or can you bench test the hu to rule it out as the problem. I ran into the same problem with my dmx1057 install and this head unit got more parts to screw in to make it work, lol. It was frustrating questioning the Maestro hook up wiring.

I ended up de-installing and bench tested hu as to rule it out as a potential problem. I rechecked wiring and the Maestro docs are not that great.

 

r u talking about the 3 bigger oem connectors, white, grayish and black? on my '20 non-jbl the "black" connector is unused. I called Crutchfield about that and they sent me a pic of the connections and was told it looked like its the 2 oem white connectors, lol. Was told the picture wasn't the greatest and that my somewhat off white connector could be one off the 2.

Sorry, too hot outside this weekend to mess with the audio in the truck. Suppose to be cooler the next couple days so I’ll open it up then.

 

I got it figured out, there was an extra plug that fell inside my dash under the harness i couldn’t see. My truck looks and sounds amazing now.

 

Haha same exact thing happened to me. Took me an hour to figure out the plug fell below the dash.
