Then carry spares and be gentle with the front locker, I was surprised on how easy @betterbuckleup snapped his, it was a challenging spot, but didn’t look horrible.

 

There's no rhyme or reason for them going. After abuse they just decide to let go. I've snapped a lot from binding. I've also snapped them from wheel spin. I snapped one in 2wd pulling into a parking spot. lol

I'm not a member of the club (we probably will join soon). I've met quite a few members and everyone, so far, seems hella solid cool people. The NRT Poker Run is said to be pretty legend. I've heard from a lot of people, that's it's well organized and a good time.

@Blue Canary @Impoy47 @essjay @Motofox @CalTacoma09 @CrashN'Burn have all been on NRT, with me, and can attest that it's a good trail for a wide variety of skill/build levels. There are bypasses on all but 2 obstacles (No Way Out Hill, Hard Brake Hill) there will be spotters in the "Freestyle" areas of Lion's Butt and Rock Pile. Or, you can just camp, do the more moderate parts of the trail, hang out, and possibly win some cool prizes. I've already seen a Fridge, 9.5K winch, trail welder, and a Power Tank on the list of raffle prizes.

Along with those listed above, @nDub @Pickeledpigsfeet @Drtgrl @foxrcing07 are pretty local. They can probably tell you this event is long standing and well run. And I know they can tell you the surrounding area is a great place to explore.

 

The only downside to working one day a week is that day is Saturday and I miss all the fun stuff.

I am grateful for my situation, photographing weddings isn't for everyone but I enjoy it. I try to take a few weekends off every year but it's tough to pass up the money.

No. They need a minimum order of 10 to make them. I already asked about that a while ago.

The truck will get Long Travel, some day. I'll cross that bridge then. You have to do RCVs with Solo's new Dana 44 hub design anyway. Until then, I'll just do what I do.

 

Nothing wrong with swapping CVs! It's an easy enough job. Even with manual hubs. Just make sure you put some anti seize on those cone washers.

The solo d44 hub setup is a nice piece of kit. The solo LT is the way to go imo.

Edit: you can also run their LT kit without the d44 hubs and just use modified tundra CVs with the OEM manual hub outers. Much cheaper that way and still pretty strong

 

Thought about doing it this way and then upgrading later. But you get a pretty decent price break if you order all of it in one shot. (At least it used to be that way)

Long Travel is, realistically, at least 2 years down the road on my plans. Wife and I are in agreement that an offroad trailer build is next winter's hole to throw money in.

 

Ya you'll definitely save money that way.

You gonna tow the trailer with the taco? Might need a SC to make it up some of the grades we have to go up

 

I'm not opposed to doing an SC at all. Although, from everything I've seen, it makes for yet another thing you have to dick with, forever, to get it to work right.

I'm talking a relatively small, light as possible (and still be strong enough) and nimble trailer. I'm probably already carrying a lot of the weight, on my truck, on the way to trips any way. This would just get a bit of the weight on to an additional axle. As well as, when we are stationary camping, with day trips, it would allow us not to have to open/close the RTT every day.

 

I think that's about right regarding a supercharger. They're a can of worms.

Mine was a huge pain in the ass to get going correctly. It didn't help I bought a used one that came with all the problems.

But that sweet sweet supercharger whine....

 

Got some redemption on the road to Relief Reservoir this weekend.

Truck needed help making it back out of there last time (2wd)

Wasn't a problem this time... same truck 4 years later.

 

I’m certain my Dad and I used to attend this event in the late 90s. Not sure if it was the same club or not but it was definitely a poker run on Niagara Rim trail. Super fun although we just drove up for the day.

My favorite was hanging out at hard brake hill and watching the white knuckle drivers come down. Almost guaranteed one roll over per event.
