No doubt. My insurance was surprisingly cheap. $103 a year for full coverage.

Going to attempt a tire change today. Need to be really careful and not pinch the tube. I think the rear will be easier? :fingerscrossed:

Ill post the videos that im going to watch/use. I don't have a compressor at home. Gotta use the one on the truck.

the ktm will be staying with me for at least a couple more years, might do a tune and exhaust in the near future

had the cbr for just about four years and had put just over 4k miles on it, ended up selling it for exactly what I paid for it, i loved it but it really did go to a great new owner as well so

now I have an excuse to try something else, but trying to wait and see what falls into my lap, because like @w.adventures mentioned 4k for a 90cc mini quad is a bit ridiculous I would admit

Has anyone tried/have experience with a CBR300, R3, or the like? I haven't been around sportbikes since the early 2000's when I owned a GSXR(hence the SN). I have no need/want for speed like that anymore, but I do like the look of the smaller bikes and figured they might be fun to scoot around town on. Being back on a bike has got me looking at others

I know people always say you want to go up(I did the same with my first one), but I'm past that point in life.

I actually looked at a KTM 390 Adventure when buying the CRF. I just wasn't familiar with European bikes and their service intervals(was familiar with the CRF b/c I had been drooling over it since they came out). I know they are known around the world, but I found those 2 bikes at the dealer and was there the next morning they opened. Didn't have enough time to look into the KTM.

If you are buying new, look at the Kawasaki 400s. They are twins, and they are cheap to run but have good performance. There is also the Honda 500s. I have always looked for used entry sport bikes, lots of people buy and then move up after 4 or 5k or they thought they would ride and don’t. I have ridden the R3 and it’s pretty nice, but not as responsive as others. Stay away from the little GSXr, it’s terrible. I’m also not a fan of singles, but I have been looking at the GS310 to maybe replace my scrambler 250.

If I'm being completely honest, I'm just "window" shopping. I tried to buy a new CRF300L Rally. After the insane markup the dealership tried to add on($8700 OTD), I bought a 2021 with 579 miles(first 600 mile service already done), seat concepts seat, and a few SRC farkles for $7100 OTD with full service records and receipts for parts. Used would be the only way I could go....and then.....it'd have to be a killer deal

My secret is living in a college town. Some one buys a motorcycle, carbs gum up over winter, they can’t get it running, moving day comes and I buy for a few hundred bucks so they don’t have to move it. If I had more room I would flip bikes all winter.

only about double of what you paid. I think mine was $15300 out the door including taxes, tags, etc. My dealership was no BS, no markups. I drove 2 hours to get it, after being dicked around by local dealers that were closer. Totally happy with my purchase, and besides what @w.adventures might think, Im not selling any time soon. First goal is to try to get to 25k, then 50. Im at 1950 miles now, since picking it up in December

Being able to do 250 miles on a tank is just insane to me. Plus cruise control, and apple car play. Need to get more seat time off road though, and build my skills.

Oh totally, parts would be a nightmare considering how short of a time those were made. I can’t imagine trying to find like a new turbo one.

Always wanted to ride one though, I hear the turbo lag is absolutely ridiculous but hits pretty hard when it eventually spools up.

If you think about it I went down. Have owned my cbr1000rr for 18 years. And went down to the ktm 890 duke r. Very happy with my decision

I’ve ridden the CRF300L and my wife bought a Rebel 300 (neither bike you listed, but both have the same engine as Hondas other two 300s) and I wouldn’t recommend them for you if you’re a grown man looking to just put around on whatever. I know you say you don’t care about power anymore and I hear you. But when I ride those bikes, the whole time I think man if this was less anemic and could get out of its own way in a bad situation it would be the perfect putt around commuter for work and groceries and whatnot. Like a cool scooter.

Maybe a 300 would be enough for ya. But if you ever need to move quickly around town maybe not. Id at least get a good long test ride on one before purchasing. It’ll beat a Ruckus at least!

I live in Auburn, so I know that feeling. Summer is a great time to get cheap stuff around here. All these kids moving home for the summer and either not wanting to take it with them or trying to hide it from the parents
I tried 2 dealers around me and got pissed when I saw the breakdown of the costs. Luckily I found the used one 2hrs away on my last day of work. I called then that day and told them I'd be over there tomorrow. I was sitting outside when they opened
