Did the Rubicon! Truck held up perfect and worked phenomenal, armor is definitely beat to piss now but thats what its for

Considering it but on the fence about driving to bend- never been before, your thoughts if you've been?

 

It's far for me but I've been there . Wanted to see cvt tents in person. Before purchase . Then I seen the cvt trailer . Want it now

 

I looked at the CVT trailers - they look awesome. Recently moved (back) to a offroad trailer setup for camping with the kids/wife and it's been great, would highly recommend, albeit it has its draw backs occasionally

 

I like the fact you can set up camp " the trailer" and take off in truck and explore

 

When we were there the trailer and a two person tent was only like $9600

 

Yup this - plus i just keep all my gear in the trailer so going out is just filling up gas and hooking up the trailer and you're off. No more unpacking when i get home or doing a bunch of extra work and prep to leave

 

Get yourself a welder and make your own. $8,500-10,000 is bonkers

 

Cvt really made a great trailer . I was impressed it came with trailer brakes and there struts for the cargo compartment can lift like 800lbs . So tent and maybe kyaks

 

Not to take anything away from them, I'm sure it's a neat and well designed product. But you can easily do that yourself and the parts are readily available

"easily" depends on the person in question. I am very lucky to have a friend who is a pretty good fabricator, great at 12v, and is very mechanically inclined. I could probably get him to help me build a pretty cool trailer if I needed one, but not everyone is so lucky. And I know for a fact I'm not someone who could "easily" do that myself. Today, my Tacoma is in the shop getting the ECGS bushing put in. Could I have had my friend help me do that for far less money? I'm sure I could. But I'll pay the premium to have that done today while I'm working so the truck is ready to go this afternoon.

 

My wife wanted me to make a rack out of unistrut for our utility trailer so we can just put a rtt on that .

Auburn Car Repair and Offroad. John Mathews is the owner, and he's treated me well so far. Had my truck in last year for re-gear and Transfer and Transmission fluid changes. He has done a lot of work on rigs for the buddy I was mentioning. Worth noting, it only took me about 2 weeks to get the truck in, which is pretty quick nowadays. Was actually just taking it in to see if that was even my issue, and he said he stocks the parts so he's doing it all same day.

They are fairly basic but if you don't have the time/skills to build your own it's a decent head start. Start at $4500 and he does a 10-15% off sale a couple times a year.


Edit. I'd love to see these built with a Timbren Axle less setup but it would probably add atleast another $1000 or so to do it right.

 

I'm curious how it went as well. I was thinking about trying to run it this year and it looks like our rigs might have somewhat similar setups.
