    All,

A co-worker of mine sent a message to our office which is below. I've asked for a photo, but if anyone is interested, please let know ASAP.

"I have a friend who’s trying to find a good home for a 5 year old German Shepard, I’ve not met the dog but am told he is very well behaved and is good around children. The reason the dog is being rehomed is because his owners are older and are moving into an assisted living facility where they cannot bring him. Please let me know if you’re interested and I can get you some photos and possibly set up an introduction!"

If there was a way to get him to Florida I'd be all over a GSD.

man, that hurts thinking someone can get rid of their dog like that, even considering the situation. Beautiful GSD. If I didn't just move into a smaller place id be there in a heartbeat. Do we know his/her name?

Not sure where, but he is in San Diego county. His name is Jack and he knows his basic commands I'm told. Good with other doggos and kids, not sure on cats. House trained as well I'm told.

The owners are going to assist living and they do not allow dogs especially large ones. They're trying to do the right thing and that I can appreciate. He's a beautiful dog too. But then again I'm biased.

At five years old he is totally trainable. These dogs are smarter than people. And the most loyal to.

^5 Years is nothing as Jack can be properly trained easily.

When you can't take care of yourself, you can't take care of others that depend on you. This beautiful Sherman Shepard requires a lot of attention, space and an active owner to give him the proper card he deserves. I don't blame the owners as I'm sure it's breaking their hearts as they're entering a new chapter of their life.

If I didn't already have pets, I'd be super interested as a GS is one of the most smartest and loyal dogs you'd ever have. However, this breed along with Huskys require a lot of proper care to give them a thriving lifestyle.

They’re going to assisted living, I’m pretty sure this isn’t an easy choice for them.

    I get it.
I guess it's just easy (and naive) for me to say id rather not go into a home than leave my GSD. I mean no disrespect to the people having to make such a difficult decision. I feel bad for them and the dog especially being a GSD

^ I'm sure they don't want to go into assistant living as they have to deal with the fact they're no longer independent enough to function on a day to day basis. Sometimes my friend, it's not a choice and I'm sure the owners of Jack feel the pain in nothing having him around. To them in that stage of life, was their child and companion.

Jack has a line on two potential homes in San Diego county. One is in Ramona with lots of fenced in room to run, rescue horses, a resident cat, and owners that spoil their animals like crazy with all the attention and affection they can handle. I'm not sure where the other location is, but it appears Jack is going to end up in a good situation.
