Hello. I'm looking at a 2015 TRD and got under-carriage pictures from the dealer. I noticed this in the picture. Anyone have any opinions on if it's a leak or nothing to worry about?

    Thanks for your help.

Remove the 4 bolts and you will see. It can be transmission leak (front cooler), power steering leak... well anything leak, the engine and front diff is on top of this plate.

You'll have to get a view from above to find out for sure. Best bet is to take it to a local mechanic for an inspection and they can remove the skid plate to take a look. Good luck!

Yep, as was stated above, the skidplate is sort of a catch all for literally anything that could be leaking above. It's simple enough to remove so get under there and start looking around and take pictures.

Pro Tip: Don't tell them you're looking for a leak because they will clean it and then you can't see a damn thing. If you're having them remove it, just say you'd like to have the skid plate removed so you can see up into the engine bay for inspection. Make sure you're there when it comes off....again, so they don't clean it.

Im going to bet its from a lazy lube tech who didnt put something underneath the oil filter drip drain when doing an oil change. That stated go through it with a fine toothed comb.

Take it to a 3rd party shop and pay for a pre-sale inspection

^^^^ x 1000. Always do an inspection and be there. Ask question and look by yourself.

Also a good idea....definitely do your own visual.

**me under the car at a Porsche dealer getting a PPI**
Me: Wait, there's no cat on this car?
Tech: Oh yeah, I thought something was missing.
Me: Ummm, yeah, that's a big something.

When I bough my 2010 Off Road which had about 85k miles on it, I noticed a minor leak in the oil pan, was not too concerned as I knew where the leak was and how minimal. I purchased an extended warranty when I bought the truck. One year later, had a shop do the repair, covered under warranty, along with new wheel bearings, tire pressure sensors, and one door switch. That one visit payed for the cost of the policy

    Best advice.

I bet fixing a timing cover leak will cost far more than what a PPI cost? ;)
