Conservative sound system build - Should I pull the trigger?

If I were to do it again, I would not do the spray for the roof. It keeps the truck cooler, but it was such a pain to apply, and just didnt do as good of a job as the noico I put on the doors.

 

I used Amazon Basics sound deadener, it was reasonably priced for a lot of it and went on well. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I am happy with it.

 

I spent several nights over the course of a couple weeks once I finally got home with the new truck reading through various threads, and they all seemed to come to the conclusion of using some combination of these products:

The Frost King stuff might not be the right product, but that's more for insulating the cab than it is for sound deadening.

Thanks for the deadener suggestions. That's the last item I need. Just need to pick something. Thinking Noico 80 from Amazon or Secondskin or both.

I’m sticking with noico and noico foam.
I’m failing to see the cost difference equaling quality compared to soundskin.

 

Noico 80 has really good reviews on Amazon for the price. I'll probably do the same.

This for the doors and door panels.

 

Use it for the floors and doors too, that will help silence noise coming in from those points

I agree on the Noico alternative or something similar. No way in hell am I spraying that cottage cheese whipped cream mess all over the inside of my truck. Reading your impressions after the drive through car wash did kind of give me a moment of "what if" though.

 

I'd do Noico on the inside of the door cavity and either the Noico or the foam on the door that the panel attaches to. I don't think there's much to gain from doing both layers plus the inside of the door cavity, but I could be wrong. Kind of like diminishing marginal utility in economics. Also, you might run into issues with material thickness and getting the panel to attach to the door with multiple layers.

Some foam tape between the speakers and speaker mounts might be more beneficial.

 

Dont get me wrong the stuff is great and works well. The heat stopping is the main reason I like it, but I would only do it again if I pulled the whole inside of the truck out, removed all wires, and taped everything proper inside a garage or shop.

If you haven't gotten the Kicker speakers already, consider some of the CDT Audio stuff that's on sale this month... you could get (what I assume to be) equal or better stuff at cheaper prices. I'm a ways out from installing things, but I'm thinking that MX-2692 that I linked in MGM's thread will do me wonderfully, and at half the cost of the Kickers you're considering

 

The XP6903C tweeters fit the tacoma? Did you need a custom bracket?

 

You'll have to trim the dash a bit for the 3 1/2's, but once the grille cover is back on you won't see it.

 

This was like $70 a couple of weeks ago. It's showing $210 now. wtf?

From what I have read Noico is made in Russia. They are....a little preoccupied right now...
