Truck A/C has been serviced couple times over the years. Compressor was original 06. Service writer called around 5pm yesterday, says they have everything back online, waiting for the new compressor. Could be a day or two. Fine with me, I get to drive wife's Lexus couple days, and it's full of GAS! Gotta have two vehicles living out here.

Next day, shop called about 1pm, all done. Cool, and expensive. I had one other item taken care of, wife smacked a mailbox with her passenger side mirror, knocking it loose inside the housing. Service writer fixed it in the parking lot for free. It just snaps together, but can't see it, and snaping plastic parts together blind, have to know what you're doing, and I didn't. And now I know, for the next time.

I have to share what just happened. My wife came in with the mail; one item was addressed to my mother's estate. I opened it, and it was a check from one of her former health care providers. "Look, a check!", I said. Another one was addressed to me, from the state. "Maybe that's a check too", my wife joked. I opened it -- it was a check! Just a check, with no explanation, but I'm guessing I overpaid my taxes. I'll take two checks in the mail every day, please, thank you.

Hope it's mild and gone quick. That movie will still be in theaters in a couple weeks, maybe your friend can still join you.

I had my working AC drained and charged in the summer of covid. It blew up in two weeks. Ended up at another shop for 100% rebuild, and it caught Covid. He destroyed my auxiliary wiring, and had me lose my E Fan. Still doesn't cool as well as it used to.
Let them run until they quit. THEN update it!

 

Back from surgery. Up at 4:45 AM to get there by 7:15. Cutting began about 9, and woke up about 10:30. Out the door by 11:30. Home by a little after 1PM. No pain and the arm is wrapped up pretty tight. Told to ice it and keep it elevated continuously for 3-4 days. No lifting anything over two pounds for two weeks.

You can see the loss of muscle between the thumb and hand as well as a general loss over the entire hand. Can't see the little and ring finger numbness, or the lack of strength, but it's there.



Doc says it was easier than expected and all went well. We'll see in six weeks...

 

That's great news, brother! Hope recovery goes better than expected too!

 

I just found out it's National Hydration Day on the XM. So, immediately finished the slow Putz, and headed to the pool!
Someone's got to do it!

 

Livin when and where we do has very good advantages. If I was anywhere in the world I wouldn’t be alive today.

I will keep little Giana in my prayers and good thoughts. I grew up Catholic but have changed my views on the church many times. I have my own personal relationship with my maker and so far so good. I like people and don’t think that who or what you worship or don’t worship is a reason for me to like or dislike you. It’s all in how you are as a person and how you treat others.

I have the same ideals as you Sir. I respect everyone regardless of race, religion or country of origin. I try to be as positive with people as I can because that's how I roll. I am glad that I could make you smile today. I try to do that with people as much as possible because like I always say, Life is to short. Have a good day and a long life Ivan. Enjoy the hunting.

 

Elevate, elevate, elevate! It reduces swelling, which reduces pain and also gives your body less stuff to fight against as strives to help you recover. We religiously kept my wife's foot elevated above her heart for weeks after foot surgery, and it noticeably reduced recovery time.

What do you like to read?

 

I’m a voracious reader and my reading material is quite eclectic. I like fiction and nonfiction.. Right now I’m reading a older book by Michio Kaku a theoretical physicist called Parallel Worlds about the creation of the universe, higher dimensions, multiple dimensions, the future of the cosmos. It’s fascinating. I like science based books. I’m a history buff too and love reading American history. My favorite is the 40’s and 50’s and especially WW2. Also early American history.
Fiction I like classics like Mark Twain, Jack London, Steinbeck etc. Horror and paranormal like HP Lovecraft and Dale Koontz, Edgar Allan Poe etc.
I also like spy, adventure, thrillers such as Alistair Maclean, Jack Higgins, James Rollins (really like Rollins), Brad Thor, Clive Cussler, William Johnstone, and a hundred others.
I just finished reading A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold a classic conservation book and previously The Wonder of Birds a fascinating book about birds.
I started reading quite young and have read tens of thousands of books. I’ll read almost anything. I’m a slacker compared to Theodor Roosevelt, I read somewhere that he had read 20,0000+ books by age 30. Give me some suggestions and I’ll read them.

LOL... I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't interested. I remember going to the library as a ten year old and coming home with a stack of books that came to the top of my head as I carried them. I had the thickest one read, Geronimo, by the time we got home. The books wouldn't last the full week. I'd read under my covers at night with a flashlight. In junior high I had to walk home and my father would be furious because I'd get lost in the comic books at a store on the way home and they worried when I was two hours late.
I don't read much non-fiction.
Dale Koontz or Dean Koontz? I stopped reading Dean Koontz for several reasons, and Stephen King because I felt he must have been paid by the word.
My favorite classics are The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, and The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. Of contemporary authors I like Tom Clancy, John Grisham, and just about all of the big names in Science Fiction. Edward Abbey wrote some interesting stuff too.
But I have to admit that I've become jaded lately. I doubt I read more than a couple of books a year now.

 

You guys make me jealous. And I'm surprised and appalled that neither of you mentioned Steinbeck or Michener. I learned to read before Kindergarten with comic books. I had subscriptions to Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse, and read the Sunday Funnies before my parents came downstairs. My eyes deteriorated years ago, and since have not been able to stay awake to read like I used to. It''s frustrating to read the same paragraph 3 times, and then not remember what you read. I'm jealous is an understatement.

I too started reading quite young and would also read under the covers by flashlight. And actually The Jungle and The Good Earth are two of my all time favorites and I’d add the Grapes of Wrath to that list. Yeh I got tired of Dean Koontz but really liked him when I read the first few. And yes Tom Clancy and John Grisham are two favorites.I like every book they’ve written but haven’t read the most recent Grisham books. My favorite is probably the book The Firm. I’ve read sci-fi but just never got into it that much. Now that you mentioned Grisham think I’ll read the few I’ve missed. Any other suggestions let me know.

 

I mentioned Steinbeck, like all his books. Grapes of Wrath is my favorite. I forgot about Michener but his books are unique and simply awesome. Last one I read was Caribbean which I read on a Caribbean cruise.
