That was my thought exactly.

Just seems odd that someone would spend $8-10k on a commercial mower and trust a color code...and 10% of us males have some color degree of color blindness .

 

You gotta remember, some of this equipment is used by people with more money than smarts and some are used in commercial settings. They are just trying to make these things as idiot proof as possible to reduce un-necessary warranty requests and to try to encourage equipment to be brought in for service.

 

I agree entirely.

I'm glad peeps walk away from these.

I get to solve a puzzle, which is fun, which often results in some decent pocket money.

Getting the average employee to actually check the air filter, and if he checks it not to jack it up somehow is always a challenge.

Discounting employee negligence, commercial cutters work in many different conditions. A fellow doing school or golf course work may get a long time out of an air filter, the same machine used around an industrial area much shorter. The visual or a sensor might help in the harsher conditions.

Those monitors are often found on industrial air compressors as well.

My "way back job" to quote a reputable source, was to maintain 8, 250 HP rotory screw air compressors.

We never paid any attention to these cheesy things.

When the amps went up and the CFM stayed the same, it was time to swap filters.

 

I had them on my units too, they never moved out of the green.

 

We had them on our trucks in the army also. After having to carry 5 spare air filters through the desert, I made cheap pre-filters for my trucks using pantyhose. Easier to knock fine dirt off of than the filter and made it so I only have to carry one spare filter. Confused the hell out of my 1sg first time he saw me walking to my truck with pantyhose, but he understood once he saw what I was doing with them.

 

My mower and one of my trucks have one. I've never seen them move, waste of money to me

 

The operator that monitor is designed to target would just push the button on it to reset it instead of checking the filter. Some of our fleet trucks had them. We didn't pay them any attention and pulled every filter to check it when I worked fleet truck.

 

Well I'm at about 22 hours now, time to start pushing the Orange a bit harder now, some of those mutli stem mesquites are pretty tough, I wish we had a bit more ground moisture.

Finally broke through on the North side of my property. Everything to right will be cleared next week.

 

Holy heck y'all! Woke up at 4:30AM with the dog screaming bloody murder downstairs. Came down and there was a huge calico cat in my house. It had come in the dog door and was trying to get out but had no idea where it was. It was running thru the house trying to jump thru all the closed windows and running headfirst into the sliding glass door.

It was jumping up to 7ft high and bonking the windows and just circling the house. I opened the front door and the sliding glass door that the dog door insert is in and it went out the slider. It was dazed from smashing its head into a dozen windows by that time.

I saw the cat go towards the back holler and chain link fence and assumed it jumped the fence. My dog went out the dog door to survey the yard and started running the fence row screeching again and then I saw the cat climbing a tree back there. Called the dog back in and blocked the dog door.

That cat was too well fed to have been a stray. In 28yrs of owning a dog door that is the first thing other than my dogs to have ever come thru it.

Question for the trailer folks, I'm getting ready to redo this trailer, new lights, wiring, paint, floor, hitch, etc. My question is about fenders.....the small tires are spread so far apart I've never made fenders for it. (I didn't make the trailer, I bought it 20+ years ago from a guy who did) Should I go with individual fenders over each tire, one long fender, what do you think? Maybe an individual fender over each tire with a flat plate across the top tying them together? Leave them off?

Um....no. It pulls too good to be moving an axle

 

If the lack of fenders isn't a problem with the law I would leave them off, easier to do a visual/service the suspension and a fender that isn't there doesn't get smashed up.
The tire tread is smooth enough that you really don't have a stone tossing problem.

If you do build them make them flat on top and strong enough to stand on.

 

I haven't had any problems with them not there for 20+ years, why create one

 

I thought about those and have looked at them, with my tires being so small and so far apart and the trailer only being 12' long I think they would look out of proportion.

 

You could do a folding side to cover the tires
