He’s not going to have any, the pump eliminates it all

I'm hoping this does what I'm expecting, and it should based on all of the positive I've heard. I'm also adding poly bushings to the rack to help with deflection so this should be the final piece of the puzzle and I'll get my steering exactly where I want it.

To really benefit from the pump for the type of wheeling you do you need to use HP tuners to turn the idle up. The pumps don’t start making real pressure until almost 1k RPM’s.
We typically set the idle on our race trucks around 1100rpm for reference

I’d seen that mentioned before. I’m hoping that since I have a manual trans a little foot work will keep the rpm’s up, but we’ll see.

You can definitely cheat the system with a manual

This. I keep holding the brake down at stoplights while revving it and dry steering to nail exactly where I need it. The pump ramps up quick though. I’ll mess with the tune though. I need to tune the evap codes out of it too.

Also to clarify this process is done to bleed the air out of the system as air will cause cavitation and ruin the pump.

If you want to “purge” the rack the best way to do so is to pop the return line off after the rack and cycle the steering wheel back and forth with the truck off. This will push the old fluid out of the system.

The TC kit takes 2 quarts and I’d personally buy 4. That gives you one to flush the system and one spare to keep on board.

I drive all automatics with two feet anyway so I don’t really notice the low idle issue with the taco but for the one footed drivers Turing up the idle will make a HUGE difference

In theory, couldn't you swap to a longer belt and a larger pulley to spin the pump faster without adjusting idle? I'm assuming your kit is the 5-3/8" performance pulley from Howe, but they also offer one in 6-1/2".
Idk what the math on that is, but bigger wheel mean more turn right? :tinfoilhat:

Not many people can do this well, and even less with a manual. Up your driving capability when off-roading and racing.

That's how I read the directions. The cycling the steering was to bleed any air from the system but I'll buy an extra qt of fluid so I have extra to flush the system out.

Been meaning to ask you about this. I'm hoping it's a non-issue when wheeling since you should be two foot driving anyway and I can keep the RPMs up a bit.

Ah okay. Also is the pulley in your kit a 6 or 7 rib? The belt pulls up as a 7 rib.

Has anybody with the spring under tried both of the upper shackle bolt hole locations on the hanger? Thinking about dropping the truck and trying the upper hole. They looked roughly 1 1/2” apart when i eyeballed it this morning. Suppose to possibly change the rate a little too?

so if fluid is currently red tinged should one just try and purge the whole system again?

I guess what I’m asking is will the TC pump be fine or does it need to be that AC delco fluid only.
