Finally got the last bit of drone out of my exhaust. I was previously running a stainless works muffler with 2 vibrant ultra quiet resonators. I switched it to a magnaflow xmod muffler (it’s pretty cool as it gives you 3 sound choices) which has its “no drone” technology. I also kept the 2 resonators. It’s a little louder then expected or wanted, but not too bad. Most importantly, I’ve lost the drone I had.

 

Funny you posted this. I was considering adding a resonator to my MBRP exhaust. Different system but I'm curious what yours sounds like. Can you post a sound clip?

 

I can try but it won’t compare to what you may think it’ll sound like or want. Plus exhaust sound clips never sound like they should on video. Also, due to all my high performance add-ons, this doesn’t sound at all like a tacoma anymore. If your thoughts on a resonator are to calm the sound down, it will definitely do what you want it to do. All I’ve done are 18” ultra quiet Vibrant resonators. Also, because of how aggressive my setup is, I’ve added 2 in parallel. I’ll work on a clip tho.

 

I find the sound of a supercharged Tacoma is quite distinctive. Sounds like some kind of fancy import to me, especially after the exhaust which is quite similar to yours as you know.

 

When I first started it and heard the new idle, I thought it my buddies ej motor in his wrx. It’s a very loose comparison I get it. That was my first impression tho. My initial set up of DT shorties and a URD y-pipe is completely different note than my URD longtubes and the JFR y-pipe…

 

Did you sell the JFR pipe? Or is that still available??!

 

Oh no no….it’s what is on my truck currently. I was just noting that the way my truck was to what it is now sounds way different.

 

Oh I understand now. I got your comment reversed. Makes sense though, who would go back to a URD after having a JFR...

I ended up not being able to afford it or at least that's what I was feeling at the time.

 

I completely walked into mine being at the right place at the right time. I just glanced at the for sale ads and saw it posted. It was set up the way I would have ordered it and I knew I just couldn’t just get it…..so I said fuck it!!!
