I usually get that about 4-5 days into the process. :(

Do you hardcore hydrate ahead of time and as you go into ketosis? I was told to do that and have never gotten the keto flu.

I usually get hit on day 3. A tablespoon of peanut butter or something usually takes care of it. But only after the water and ibuprofen don't do anything and I finally cave and have the PB.
I drink three or four 20 ounce bottles of water at work and have another 24 ounces when I get home. I'm hoping I don't need to drink more than that because I'm in the bathroom enough!

I don’t keep track like I should but I definitely increased my water intake.

did keto back in '17, lost 50lbs. Got off, and gained it all back  doing a restart, and following this thread to see others' success. Wish me luck!

My other half has recently picked up this diet and I’m along for the ride. I’m being supportive, but don’t want to fully commit myself. I’m not unhealthy or out of shape, and just don’t see a need. I’m sure I’ll drop a few pounds just tagging along with her new eating habits. Especially if the food keeps looking and tasting like this:

I make a similar low carb pizza with Lavash flatbread.

I've made some super low carb tortilla shell pizzas that came out really well. Kids loved them and my wife even admitted to liking them. The Lavash flatbread is great. I like to use it as a "bun" for the occasional brats.

Arnold has come out with a "keto" bread that I am torn on. It is higher in carb content, and high in fiber for a 0 carb offset if you believe in that. I've tried two loaves and am torn on it so far.

Be careful of eating too many unhealthy fats if you are not being fully keto, or unhealthy fats in general. It has been mentioned before in here, but the liver processes alcohol, then carbs, then fat, and you should perhaps be conscious of that order when living keto.

We’ve tried the lavash before and it’s tasty!
The pizza I made tonight was a scratch cauliflower crust. It came out fantastic

I hadn’t really considered that, good to know; thank you! I have cholesterol issues, so I’m acutely aware of the grease and fats going down the chute, and even with the keto stuff going on around me I’m going to continue to attempt my low(ish) fat diet.

Agreed manmade seed oils are unhealthy and are absolute poison, l prefer to stick with Butter, Ghee, Tallow, and Bacon Grease.

Being ‘healthy’ and not out of shape can still hide underlying issues.
I would say I was in ok shape, I backpacked regularly doing 12+ mile days and while my weight was up slightly, I didn’t think it was bad. Husband exercises 5 days a week and hikes with me.

We got a very detailed and in-depth blood panel….

I was pre diabetic and early fatty liver disease. Hubs was high cholesterol and hypertensive (and something else).

I asked the doc if we could try to change things with diet first before getting Rx’s. He agreed.

One year later after hitting the low carb thing hard, our bloodwork was near perfect! We do low carb, not keto-ain’t got time to micro manage our food…

All that to say… get a blood panel even if you think you’re ‘healthy’.

    This is good info!
I have some pretty bad medical history on both sides of my family, so I do a detailed blood panel every year with my physical. Found out a couple years back I had seriously bad cholesterol despite eating well and being active. Genetics will get ya!

The KETO diet works, but you can easily get it all back. I prefer the Carnivore diet with the only drawback that beef prices have skyrocketed, so I eat lots of chicken, turkey, eggs, dairy products, plus protein drinks on workout days.
Dr. Shawn Baker on YouTube is a huge Carnivore diet guy.

It's not just hydration but electrolytes. Reduction in carb intake crashes insulin, which causes kidneys to release tons of water, which washes away electrolytes.
If you are keto and/or do any type of intermittent fasting almost always supplementing with sodium and potassium is going to be a must.

I use pink salt and No Salt (potassium salt, salt substitute). I put a little bit in all my drinks and I even put it in my coffee in the morning. Just a little, not enough to be disgusting. My sports drinks I mix up I will put more in. You can also just extra salt your food and throw some of that no salt on food too. You can also buy it in pill form.

I'm back on keto, been back on the wagon for 3 weeks now.

Just came off a few high intensity VO2 Max and Thresholds for running. I only did IF 3 days a week and then was eating a lot of carbs to fuel running and lifting.

I'm not an over weight person (5'9'' 165lbs maybe 12-14% body fat now), outside of how much beer I drink my diet is pretty solid and I'm a very active individual. But man I feel like a steaming pile of crap when I eat a lot of carbs. Even if I'm running 80 miles a week I can maybe tolerate max 150-175g of carbs a day meanwhile I've got fit buddies that eat 300+g a day.

When I'm keto I feel awesome and can actually lose weight. I have actually stopped taking all my anxiety and depression medications. Was on the max dose for 18 months now all of a sudden don't need anything. I was borderline OCD in 2021 and seeing a psychiatrist my anxiety was so bad.

I've had a couple bouts in my life where I have had what my doc thinks is hypoglycemic episodes (dizzy, sweaty, confused, nauseous, and fainting spells) followed with upper abdominal pain on lefthand side radiating to my back. As soon as I go on keto the pain is gone and no issues.

Don't know if anyone on here lifts or is an athlete that struggles with carbs. I seem to be a unicorn in the fact that I'm a healthy body weight, very active, and eat well but still struggle with carbs. Wondering if anyone else is the same.

I use Celtic Sea Salt and prefer it over pink salt. I also take a magnesium potassium asportates supplement.

Made pizza on the new cast iron pizza pan tonight. Modified Fathead Dough. This one was not gluten free though as I added some Vital Wheat Gluten to experiment with the texture of the crust. Pepperoni, Bacon, and Basil…Great Flavor. The crust was almost perfect. 7 gr total carbs per slice.

Would be worth trying that over the fat head pizza dough.
