Rocker panel holes

Has anyone noticed a series of 5/8 inch holes on the back side of the rocker panels? Mine are/were covered with a square rubber pad stuck over them. I believe there are 13 on each side. After all these years, and diligent spraying with various rust preventives, several have lost their adhesion, some gone completely, some just peeled off partially. I am thinking that it would be best to give that a good flushing, and then insert some rubber plugs to keep out mud, dirt, and water. Has anyone been down this road? Better solution??

I have them on the bottom of my rockers but not on the back. Do you mean inside of the pinch seam?

 

No these are up higher, above the pinched seam and its weep holes. These guys:

 

Clean and Gorilla tape . Another idea clean and glue pieces of rubber or plastic .

Then paint

 

My concern there would be the Fluid Film would allow anything glued on, to loosen, much like the originals did.

 

If you paint over top of what ever you put on it should seal things from the fluid film.

since it only needs to get through till your fluid filming again.

you could always weld patches over those holes

 

Go to your local auto wreckers. Found that mid 2000s Nissan cars had rubber plugs in the doors that fit great. Grabbed a handful for cheap.

 

Have you looked at your local hardware store ?

I guess it comes down to how much time you want to spend.

 

I'm going with the rubber plugs that I found on Amazon. More of a mechanical than adhesive connection.
