I used Larry H Miller on alameda a time or two for other things and they were fine.

I replaced my own steering rack last year. Took maybe 3 or 4 hours. There’s some good videos on YouTube and info on TW if you’re feeling spunky. I can link some of you want.

@deekyn I’m curious what direction you’ll be taking with the build. Bed rack?

The camper shell with the roof top tent plus 15+ off-roading trips with 1000+ miles of dirt a year was killing the bed. I have numerous cracks in the sheet metal around the tail lights and else where on the bed sides.

So I wanted a bed rack that tied into the bed bolts / frame. I got a Leitner ACS forged bedrack a month or so ago. Seems super solid. I’ve used it on 4 road trips, put 300 miles of off-roading on it already. I’m happy with it so far.

Where do you guys go for brake work? Ideally close to the Alamogordo area but I can make a day trip if the shop is worth it. Gonna get new rotors, pads, stainless steel lines, and a flush. I could probably do the work myself but would feel better having qualified mechanics do it instead.

That's not a bad job to do. As long as you have the correct wrenches for the flare nuts on the lines it's pretty straight forward. A friend to help you pump the brakes will do it for beer I'm sure lol.

Wow man, I’ve never seen a bed rack that uses the bed bolts like that. I’ve seen the wheeling you do so it makes sense. Ripping around NM sometimes feel like I should slow down due to having a shell.
Loving the build man, not flashy just functional

Yeah it is definitely within reach but having never done anything brake-related, I'm understandably nervous. Feels a bit more complicated than suspension work to an amateur like me.

If you can do suspension you can do brakes for sure. I’d argue it’s easier personally. But, like others said make sure you have flare wrenches in case anything is a little tight.

It's just the idea of it. I swapped all of the brake lines on my 4R to stainless and had never done more than change out pads and rotors. Don't know of any shops in your area as you're a little far south of me.

I got a set of those in anticipation of having to do the swap when going to option 2 on my RXTs but the lines still have good flexibility. I'll be stepping up to option 3 shortly and will do it then.

I've got the OR and electric boost pump which supposedly makes bleeding stupid easy and soloable. Guess some google/YouTube searches can tell me everything else I want to know. I'd still like to get a professional to at least double check my work. Last thing I want is to have to contend with a brake issue of some flavor.

Could use some advice. Put Bilstein 5100 shocks front and back to pull a trailer. Sold the trailer now I want to return to a smoother ride.
    Any suggestions?

Going down to the bed bolts is the best way to carry the load especially when you factor in off roading. Thats how I designed my bed rack for the short bed Tacoma. Now that the RTT is on the trailer I need to sell the rack. :(
