Your dual profession is just slightly more common.

Naw, I've met lots of engineers/lawyers. Many are in the patent profession. Last one I used had your credentials.

They sure came a long way then since the early 1990's when i had to go down there. They lacked the high tech skills our electronic manufacturing plants in the u.s. had.

Toyota builds in Mexico because there is a cost advantage.

Huh? Get a white one and be happy. I’m another person who has had no issues with white paint. And did you know white and other lighter colored vehicles actually get better gas milage too?

And as for the best tacos, Baja Tacos are! I’ve had Texas Tacos before and they were just OK. Who puts corn and other weird stuff in Tacos?

They have their issues, like anywhere in these troubled times, but generally Mexico is a nation on the ascent. My wife works with athletes, swimmers in particular, many of whom are from Mexico on exchange, and I’ve had a lot of my own misconceptions shattered in getting to know these kids and their families in a limited way. I would not hesitate to buy any vehicle made in mexico.

Im not sure I understand this comment. My vehicle is coming from Mexico and I’m not asking about whether Mexico is a good place to make a truck, let alone the people!! I’m asking about Baja Mexico versus Central Mexico. Very few people on this thread understand the question.

I fully understand your question, it’s just not a question worth answering.

Toyota + Mexico = good trucks

I think toyota trucks made in Mexico are great, but asking whether a brand new plant has found its sea legs yet isn’t a stupid question. There is variability from one manufacturing facility to the next, and, again, the country is not part of my question yet the reference to Mexico keeps surfacing. It just isn’t part of my question. I’d ask the same question if it was a brand new plant in Osaka or Ontario.

Here is my questions for you:

How can anyone know the answer to your question? Who would be the person to speak from authority on this subject?

Looking for trends or observations on truck quality from one manufacturing site versus the other. Only seem to be met with hostility or I’m misunderstood or both. Not a problem. Forget I asked.

Maybe comparing the few fails we do have could be a way to see?
I tend to think that the working parts come from Japan and body parts from North America?
My 2010 double cab comes from the Baja California plant just east of Tijuana.
The assembly quality has proven to me to be outstanding.
    The fails have been:

Blower motor speed control fails to max setting.
Middle compartment latch button falls off.
TSB for running light lens cracking.
    Driver's side hub bearing fail.

That's all I can think of?
Do these things happen on the Mainland Mexico Tacoma's?

Who knows. Only time will tell. In any event, it appears the trim I want is only made in Baja so it’s a moot point for me. Baja Mexico is a long-time manufacturing site. I am confident the other plant will be great, too, but will need more time to confirm.

Imo, mexico is mexico. I'm sure it was cheaper for toyota to build there vs the u.s. At any rate i still would support u.s. built vehicles given the choice.
