Not sure about SR models but SR5 models have DRL in the turn signal housings. (Amber bulbs)..

TRD models have L shaped DRL... (but some trucks have aftermarket headlights which you may see different DRL designs on them. XB headlights for example.)

Some trucks (2021 and newer) have led headlights if you choose led package when you ordered one or grabbed a Tacoma from the dealership lot.

I guess you could say that. I just don't see a need to turn my headlights off. I live in Central FL and it can go from bright and sunny to pouring down rain in a matter of minutes. The last thing I want to do when I'm on the freeway with my wipers on high speed, barely able to keep up, is for me to have to check if my headlights are on. I don't really see a downside to leaving my headlights on all the time when I drive. Let me know your thoughts on what the downsides are there.

When I’m SOB (south of the border) I prefer to use my L shaped running lights. My aftermarket LED fogs are too bright and take away the look for oncoming traffic. In the USofA I do the same. They use no power and should last a lifetime so WTF not?

A lot of people here in East Tennessee don't use their blinkers either...

I run marker lights 100% of the time, with headlights as needed. Firstly because I like lights, but also to aid in visibility to others. I'm a huge supporter of "Sign Of Life" vehicle lighting to indicate to others that the vehicle is not parked, and is about to move or in motion.

Any way to improve vehicle visibility to others is something I'm for.

Visibility. Lights can be seen from further out. Especially in a state where everyone goes 75 everywhere like Texas.

it's not very well enforced, nor is it every state, and the wording per state is slightly different as well.
here's some handy similarly-styled graphics for ease of digestion:

i've made the same argument for front plates--why, especially japanese brands, that their home-country requires 100% front plates, do they not design the front of all their vehicles around a front plate?

I live in RI. Most people either use DRLs, high beams or nothing. Low beams and turn signals are foreign concepts here.

Any more so much Road Construction where head lights on are mandated . I just now turn them on when the truck starts.

Didn't read all the thread, but my truck always has its lights on and they automatically turn off once I open the door. Never thought of switching them off.

Since i was 16 i have always started the engine then turned on the lights. Midnight, High Noon, and any time in between. These days with DRL it's not as necessary but still a habit. Probably is for a lot of people.
Much better than the idiots who drive around in the dark without their corner markers on because they think their DRLs are their headlights...

Long ago it was a company Policy I have been doing it for a very long time.

I have never experienced any abnormal light failures.

Same. Company policy in work trucks. Folks get used to it and do it in their personal vehicles.

I don’t run daytime headlights, but do leave it in Auto DRL setting, so they turn on and off based on light conditions.

We also back trucks into parking spaces. This one I do everywhere and with all my personal cars. Habit.

Some people like to have their lights on, I see idiots out here all the time running a stupid light bar during the day.
