What did the 4.88 gears do to your fuel mileage?

I have a whole house softener installed. I gotta wipe dry pretty quick otherwise the salts leave a little spot so either way you gotta towel it down.

plus I’m not sure the long term affect of the salts, could lead to rust issues later I suppose.

for drinking and cooking we have reverse osmosis. It was expensive but now the toilet doesn’t turn red after a while like it used to

Yeah pretty sure salt residue will still be there from the softener though. Just gives me more time to wipe down that time of day

Good luck with your new to you F150. My previous truck was a 2002 F150 FX4 Super Crew. Kept it for 16 years and the only issue was a fuel pump that I had replaced after buying my Tacoma. Loved the truck and sold it because I no longer needed a full size truck. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoyed mine.

I didn’t realize that salt was left in the water. I thought it was only used to basically clean the softener beads. I’m sure that spraying salt on the truck would be good.

Calcium and magnesium minerals cause hard water spots. A softener will add salt to make the water feel more slippery, but won't remove the hard minerals that cause etching. A deionized water system will remove hard minerals as the resin absorbs the calcium and magnesium. However, the life of the resin will be limited depending on your water hardness and total dissolved solids. An in-line carbon filter and softener will prolong the life of the DI resin too. Ideally, you'd have a second inline carbon filter after the softener, but before the DI system, because salt will also shorten the life of DI resin.

A 50/50 mixture of distilled vinegar and distilled or deionized water will remove spots if they're not etched into the clear. You'll need to polish them out with a random orbital polisher if they're etched. Also, spraying a drying aid on the wet panels before drying will buy you some time. I like Adams detail sprays and spray wax.

I use a DI Rinse Pro 100, but I also have a whole house water filter and softener system through Aqausure in addition to a wall mounted sediment and carbon filter after the softener, but before the DI system.

Okay so thank you a hundred times! That is a fantastic response and super helpful! Truly appreciated! I’m going to look into that Adam’s detail spray for sure… I need something like that setup our water is terrible. Turns everything salt white and ruins shower heads..

I washed my truck 3 times since 2019, everytime its a full detail, ceramic coating, and I put a layer of undercoat on, well... everything under the truck,

So far no rust no anything really, every now and then I will hit the leaf springs with the power washer because they get squeaky. Crazy when I do the yearly wash dirt falls right off paint in fantastic shape.

Now I do have my roof wrapped for protection. Plastics have a clear film on them and the again have the 3 year ceramic coating but do it once a year. It also helps the truck is the color if dirt but yeah im a few months into this years wash, just drove it 3100 miles to Alaska.

Ive put 70k on it since new in 2019 drove it across Mexico, the US twice, Canada once. I do wipe down the kings as well every 10k and grease everything

The "and I think I'm done" quote.... then you browse tacomaworld and find 709 things you dont need but need and in a few years you have a offroad machine sent from the gods sitting in the driveway.....

So how was the sound reduction to you? I picked up an orange noodle at SFI (1.99) last week, stuffed it in, and the cab seems to be quieter. I'd also put foam in the vents when I put soundproofing on the back wall of the cab a couple of years ago.

Yes they are pressurized water tubes about 8 gallons 7 to 9 minutes of flow on a low flow shower head. And the drive was amazing highly recommend doing it.

it slows them down or you can use a clamp that uses a socket - better
