Dude - No! Just No!

A 4” to 6” stump can have a huge network of roots that’ll take a significant effort to pull out.

While in college I worked to put in a road. We pulled out stumps with bucket loader’s.

I wouldn’t attempt doing what we did with a full size truck, let alone a Tacoma.

Rent a Home Depot truck for $19 an hour. Save the Taco for fun.

Well atleast the 6MT anyway... I have not driven a 6AT.

 

We have had a few (5 stumps) ground.
A total of 2 separate occasions.

The first time was an experience.
Those things can send large wood chips flying FAST.
And once they get sub grade, rocks start flying too.


The 2nd time, let’s just say we made sure they were “licensed and bonded”.

 

lol that’s funny but then again not even a bit funny when you think about it ‍♂️

 

I would never use this Tree Service again; they were an extreme disappointment from top to bottom.

 

Yeah it was scary AF, you would think they would pay better attention.

 

i swear on my kids lives I thought about burning the stumps but the tire and diesel gas mix is a nice touch lol

 

We will never again buy another house with tress in close proximity to our house.
Our current house was basically “in the wood”. I cleared all the ones I felt comfortable doing.
And we hired out the rest. I’ve found that with tree work, you get what you pay for.
Every time we used the “cheaper” guy. I had a mess to clean up afterward.
Not to mention making up with the neighbor after they dropped full trees across his driveway and yard.

 

you would think but then again what are we talking about here. My buddy’s construction company his a gas line shut down 3 city blocks and cost him $20k oops!!

 

I’ve done it before with an F250 but I’d never try it with a Taco. Excellent way to fuck up your truck.

The vast majority use potassium nitrate (saltpeter).
I’ve never had any real luck with it. At least not on 20”+ stumps.

This is what I used. It was a enormous stump. Burned underground for 2 days.

I used diesel fuel mixed with used motor oil half and half. It only took about a quart to get it started and after that is just glowed and burned like incense or charcoal.

Right tool for the job!

 

A Farm Jack (Hi-Lift) in itself is sketchy.
A poorly maintenance lift is even worse.
Let the locking pin slip, load shift, or handle slip and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Those things make me nervous.

 

I've rented a stump grinder to finish taking out what was left of the spruce trees in my yard. Its was tedious but everything went well.

 

Nah, I just use my skidsteer and it can grab upto 9in diameter trees. Not sure, I would use the Tacoma, because those frames are so ever strong.

 

I've seen full 1/2-3/4 ton full size trucks not able to pull out simple yew shrubs. I wouldn't even want to try one on a real tree. You need at least an f-350 or bigger.
