Naaaaa, for full mall approval you need a tent up there on top of John's bed bars. Plus, as a bonus you can mount cool shit to the outsides of the bed bars, like traction boards, which I need too. Oh, a shovel, some of those fuel cell things, oh! And a AXE!

But that tent is a very cool tent. I almost went that route. It's very popular. That name brand.

Obviously they stopped me from camping at the mall. I think @Fire Arrow Jim ratted me out.

    Morning MD.

Picked up some full synthetic high mileage this morning for my next oil change. Bringing my OCI down to 4K instead of 5K, so I have some time to go until my next change. Nervous, but we shall see what happens.

Happy Sunny Sunday everyone! Hopefully everyone is well and enjoying themselves. I just completed a long awaited project that was way more difficult than anticipated. Made my self a ‘custom’ roof rack! Just took 2 1.5” 14ga steel bars and painted them black. Used stainless steel hardware to secure it. Not the best paint job by any means, but it’ll do the trick for now.

On a side note, I adjusted my fox coilovers and dropped em down about 1” which completely threw off my alignment. A week later, after hammering, cutting, torching, and cussing, I got new inner and outer tie rods on and aligned it perfectly in my driveway. The ride is soft and has a lot more travel than my previous OME setup. Very happy for now, but like anything, there is always room for improvement.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend!

So far a pretty good Sunday. Stopped by to see @dave5623 and go from the KDMax 6.0 (i think) tune to the OTT 8.0 mild/medium and so far the drive home was great. Shifting seems smoother on highway when needed. I’ll need to drive it around more besides at highway speed. No complaints at least on that drive.
Also washed my truck this morning, even though i knew I would fight waterspots and soap trying to dry quick. I just did little sections. I found that a spray of the Adams Graphene detail spray then the turtle wax wet wax ceramic on top did really well on the tough water spots truck has the great shine back too!

Do the water spots typically go away when it rains? Mine is Super White, and I'm not worried about water spots but I'm wondering if I should be

Hey man, nice to hear from you again lol. Hope training is going well.

Nope, they don’t really go away on their own just get thought to get rid of… that said, after the graphene ceramic spray I used, they’re no where as bad as they’ve been.

If this for the T4R, I wouldn't be concerned about a 4K interval. I used to do a 5K interval running Rotella T6 5W40 in my 'runner. I had used the Blackstone $30 service a few times for an oil analysis and once because of 'factors', I went out to 8K before I could do a change and I sent in a sample. I was told that I could still push it a few thousand more. I personally won't take it to 10K, I will stick with the 5K intervals on the Rotella T6. I use the T6 because of the high detergent levels and the high zinc levels in the oil, it's closer to the chemistry of the oils that were available when the 'Runner was brand new. I saw such improvements after the 2nd oil change that I just keep using it. It quieted down the lifter tap, cold starts in the winter went much better, the engine just seemed to run much smoother.

Thanks for dropping by. Glad the OTT is working out for you thus far. Your truck is coming along nicely. Although after each time we have met I think we have both said we have to stop spending money on the truck and we then buy more mods. Haha

I've been fighting with a used 2 stroke Weedeater brand weed whacker that was give 2 me by an old co-worker just after I bought my hut. The "bump" head never worked right and it was made for the .060 line. This year I tried a new head that uses pre-cut lengths of string, a single button is pushed then you feed the string through the hole. Great idea on paper, complete PIA to use in reality plus the whacker started to bog down from the extra weight of the new head and the length of the string ( or so I thought ). The last time I tried to use the machine, it just kept bogging badly and couldn't build any RPM's. I checked the plug, it looked good. Today I got a fresh can of premix thinking that the other can I purchased 2 months ago was bad somehow, even though it smelled ok. I dumped the old gas and filled the tank and pulled the chord- nada. I got miffed and put the old non working "bump" head back on and stuffed about 10' of .090 cable inside. It sputtered a bit more like it wanted to scream but just couldn't. I grabbed the carb adjusting socket wrench and fiddled with the 2 screws on the carb, I forgot which one did what.. I got it to a point where it revved. I fiddled with the other screw which didn't seem to do anything, so I just went with the 1 screw that made it run mid-throttle. I got it full throttle then adjusted the screw a bit more and found the sweet spot! It sounded like a CR 500 with a tank full of Avgas! ( ok, maybe not quiet that nice, but a close 2nd..)

So the point of the long winded stupid story- I hate the 2 stroke whacker! Is anyone out there using an electric one? What kind of battery life and overall performance do you get? I've also seen some 4 stroke Echo weed whackers, I imagine that a 4 stroke would just be reliable and hassle free.

I have heard absolutely nothing but GREAT things about the Rotella T6. It’s a diesel oil, right? I’ve always seen the 15W-40 but never 5W-40 before. How long exactly have you been using it for now? That’s a pretty smart way to look at things, though— the whole chemistry of the oil being closest to what was available when the 4R was brand new. I’ve always wondered what the factory pour was in our 3rd gens. I’ve heard for the 4th gens it was some variation of Castrol, though I only heard that from a friend and never verified myself.

There is a little ticking noise at idle, more noticeable on the hotter days. My buddy loves to refer to it as the “Toyota tick” which I can live with. I’m currently running Kirkland Signature full synthetic. I am 100% an oil nerd and I absolutely love it. I love reading about all kinds of oil, analyzing the numbers, learning what all the additives are and what they mean in relation to how they work with my engine, etc etc. I am somewhat nervous about running this SuperTech high mileage stuff, but from what I’ve read, evidently SuperTech is some really good shiz for an affordable cost. I think I may go back to Toyota oil filters at my next change, too, we’ll just have to wait and see.

I also have sent in a sample to Blackstone, but only once. Right before I hit 300K miles. They gave me a phenomenal report and I was thoroughly impressed with the narrative they wrote. Ran Pennzoil Ultra Platinum back then. Also a great oil and wouldn’t hesitate to use it in any other vehicle I drive.
