One question. Can it be possible to OVER inflate the exped?

Used a step drill bit to cut two holes in one of the plate covers for the switches and installed in the driver rear pillar. Top switch controls lights on the ceiling of the camper and bottom switch controls the lights in the door openings. The amount of light is great and it dims down to almost nothing.

Showing the two switches installed, only thing with these ones is they don't light up. I think there were others available that did light up, but not that big of a deal

Placement looked a bit goofy when they transition back into the frame, if its not clear I have 4 discrete strips on each window/door opening, connected to each other with some 22ga wire. I started at the switches and ran them in series clockwise around the camper.



How I routed the wire up to the upper level, my camper had a small gap between the fixed panel and the frame which was perfect for the 22ga wire to drop into, ran that up to the driver front corner, gonna remove the t nut/screw since its not needed.

Finally here is a look at how i transitioned the lights on the roof, I only ran 3 strings, leaving the cab end of the roof without lights.

I ended up using almost all of the lights, basically one package for each run. With the two lights together on the brightest setting it pulls about 50W and when they are on the lowest setting they register less than 1 watt

Just picked up my x1 on Friday. I believe mark77 was leaving as I rolled in. Love it so far. Currently working my way back down the coast. Question, has anyone determined the best tent latch lock to use?

Yes, that is mine. Vacationed in the area. We saw two others on our trip. One in McCall at the forest service office the other passed us somewhere in south Idaho or Utah.

 

11 nights, 5 states in the SP. Alot of wind, little rain, and no issues. Don't really have the back built out , but this trip gave us a few ideas on what we want to do. We were both amazed at how "quiet" the SP was in the wind. Can't wait to get out again.

 

So has anyone ever moved their vehicle with the tent open? I'm not talking about driving... More like repositioning the vehicle. I'm going to be mounting 400-500w of solar (want to charge ebikes via a 180AH Lithium battery) and with the tilt of the tent/roof I may need to face one way in the morning and then flip 180 in the evenings.

 

I did this weekend actually.. nothing crazy but did move the truck with everything open, including my bumper swingouts. everything is solid. I imagine some serious movement while its open might create issues with all the sway and leverage on the tent extrusions and gas struts. So just be careful.

 

Did more work/camping with the utility glamper..

 

At least it was nice and overcast!! Bet that upped the humidity though.

Btw, on moving the vehicle w/ tent open.
I'll be using a swing-out as well, but mine is for the bike rack. I'm going to have to mount it upside down though bc I have tailgate clearance issues with my high-clearance bumper.

 

It was. We were worried about the weather, as this project is 5+ hours from home and this was the 2nd weekend trip up to finish it. We finished the roof and then parked the vehicles under/inside for the night, and right when it started to get windy and rain too. Protected us for the most part, and everything held up in the high winds just fine. I left the entire back of X1 open that night.. including having my rear flap propped open all night with my awning mounts. Watched the lightning storm out in the distance and slept comfortably.

You should be ok with moving around.. carefully.




Then we pretty much built the rest around the trucks. At one point we thought it might be a ship in a bottle situation.. but some quick measurements and we knew it would be ok to get them out afterwards. lol

 

Any word on when we might be able to place some orders with you for those awning blocks?!

 

That I need to figure out still. Been busy with these other projects and wanted some time testing. I do want to make a batch and send out for Anodize for some of you guys for some testers. I want to make a change to these one last time then make that Ano batch. I want to open up the holes for the poles, or maybe just put a bigger lead on them. I noticed when I was trying to get the poles in the mounts in the dark this weekend, I boogered part of the edges of the holes. I need to break the edge more so it doesnt create the thin, weak section breaking through the surface. Just little things to clean them up and make them hold up to repeated use.

My buddy, who I usually wheel with, just moved from the San Diego area out to Prescot AZ (Got tired of the cost of living and some of the batty politics).
He's a subaru guy though... His main rig, affectionately called "Shitty", is an STI wagon that is pimped out rally style, but I keep telling him that his 85 Brat would be a super capable rig as well. Besides those two, I think he has a drifter built SVX, a WRX and a grocery getter Outback.

Anyway, he keeps pushing us to come out to his Subie compound to sample the local trails (4x and mtb). Once my X1 is built out, and the AZ temps subside a bit, I'll take him up on the offer.
