Sorry for late reply! 265/70/17, zero rub even without OEM lift

Why is there foglight block off plates? Do they really expect Off-Road/Sport owners to remove their foglamps and install block off plates? Tyota thinks the foglights will now blind other drivers with the additional 2" in height?

It's a legal issue. In some states, the auxiliary lighting or fog light must be under a certain heigh. With the lift, it raises the fog lights above the max. Toyota puts them in the kit so they are there if needed for the state. I have read in this thread some dealers place them over the light so you can remove them at home easily.

    EDIT:

Ya I had to request that they leave them in and one tech fought me on it. Then a second tech came up and was like "don't worry bro I got you"

    Stock for now

Interesting. I don't have the OEM lift kit yet but I'm getting some vibration from the steering at higher speeds. Do dealers not do Road Force balancing? Or, is that a specialized thing I need to go to a shop for? Not ready to pull the trigger on tires but suspect the stock tires are the issue.

I ordered my truck with the LED headlights and fogs lights and the dealer left the fog light in when they installed the TRD lift. No questions asked and no issues.

Did any of you have any issues getting your OEM parts from the service department when you had this kit installed?

I have a question regarding this lift, please keep in mind I’m not very knowledgeable on this topic.

I have read so many times that even rear block lifts are bad for a truck, but isn’t the 1” rear lift on this oem lift nothing more that a block lift?

I don't know if they are necessarily bad, but basically it is completely for looks and adds no functionality, which is why a lot of people are down on it. If you want, you can upgrade the leaf pack at the same time or in the future and then it'll be more "useful".

No problem here. Told the service scheduler I wanted all the takeoffs put in the bed. They had no issue at all and even said "You already paid for them, so you might as well keep them" All take off parts were put into the boxes the replacements came in, including the grill. And I'm not in a state that requires the fog lamps to be removed, so they had no problem leaving them in.

It all depends on your application, if your adding a lot of extras and weight, springs would be better. If you want to maintain more of a stock feeling go with a block. 1" blocks have little to no disadvantages, taller blocks are not good. Yes, the 1" Oem rear lift is a block.

I run a 1" rear block with a 1 degree taper. We tow a travel trailer, offroad and feel no ill effects. We only do intermediate level trails that have some short advanced sections. For difficult trails and rock crawling, blocks would not be recommended.

I realize it’s strictly a looks thing as opposed to an AAL. I just have always read you can potentially do damage. Maybe in the rear the potential is less?

So you are saying if a vehicle is for example strictly a road driven vehicle, a rear block lift poses no threat of harm over time? Especially since it’s only a small 1” lift in the rear?

So I ended up installing the belltech shims today and looking at the size I feel like they should be longer and less wide for better fitment. Either way after installing I'm not really sure I felt any difference. Maybe the rumble strip effect is gone, but I still get a bit of vibration at 50mph and higher speed braking. I guess its just the nature of the vehicle. Surprised how quickly I was able to do the install with only 1 jack also.cKfwaiAMADZU4Bj1JF6rERQuGZVM_OxaWwjwhKIN_ff787d6a8400b3f3a6a320ab96ceda674b21f831.jpg

Did the install this weekend. Set the fronts at the middle notch and added a 1 in rear block from Low Range Offroad.

Looks great. So would the front be a 1.1” lift then?

265's looks perfect with 1 1/2" lift upfront
