maybe it'll help with the demolition... it didn't look like they were making too much progress when we swung by there.

If anything lighting it on fire was just the most efficient way to go about it.

Well then...I'm glad we got that opportunity to check it out when we did. It'll surely be more tightly secured at least for a short time, now that this has happened.

Anyone know if the GMNF is still open for camping at all? I’m looking to camp somewhere Friday night close to Woodstock. Current plan is Tripoli rd near Waterville in NH it’s only an hour away not terrible but i can be convinced to try somewhere new and do a different hike.

cheers. I’ll give them a call tomorrow morning and Tripoli road. GMNF is like 20 minutes away from rendezvous so that would be nice. But I’ll probably be up at sun up because it’ll be 4 damn degrees out anyway so don’t think it much matters. I’ll probably hike osceola if Tripoli road is still open.

I had a small group up in the area on Saturday night, we tried to get to the night 1 campsite - the bridge is out and under construction until 7/20 according to the signs. Not sure if the back route is open with a right of way, for now, but I think we hit a gate last year going that way. We ended up kipping up closer toward the radar base. So if y'all wanted to do a do over this year, scout out the night 1 site ahead of time.

Let me know - I have a spot nearby I can share too, about the same size.

The spot up by the border? That was a pretty sweet spot. I don't recall a bridge though. I thought we hit that bridge on the way to the radar station, which detoured us to bypass the radar station.

Yup that's the spot. I'll send you a snip on a map in PM

I don't remember that - I thought we decided to skip the radar base just because. It was funny - where we kipped up for the weekend I pulled in for the night running Gaia like "wait I minute...I was here"

We blew right past an off-shoot up a hill about 1/2 mile to a 7/10 camp site, but it's big. Would benefit from some brush controls.

Hey did we do this section? I wasn't recording in Gaia and don't remember.

    upload_2022-6-26_12-48-53.jpg

If not - fair warning this is stock friendly "plus". My skids got a few knocks but I made it through without hassle in 4 lo. Going east there's a ledge up that looks worse than it is, but still rough. Would not recommend going through here solo. It's only about a mile or 1.5, so not terrible but caught me off guard following the track. Don't remember if we bypassed it, or it might have gotten washed out a bit past couple years.

You know, I think we might have missed the turn for that and gone straight into Wallingford to grab rt7 south.

Hmm. I don't really recall. It's been two years even on stuff I know we did I was thinking "this used to be like 4 miles shorter" but I feel like I would have remembered that section of trails.

It didn't help I didn't air down and had a kayak up top, I was with an Xterra who was lifted but had an RTT with kayaks on top of that so it was a bit of a "oh crap, this is a trail" moment.

Would not recommend for someone without sliders or solo or who has never wheeled before, or is out on their own wanting a relaxing gravel ride with the fam :D

Yeah. We almost certainly did not do that from the sound of it.
