‘Dad Shred build thread’ double locked & 5:29’s SOLD, now 2014 tundra cm TRD OR

I’m still very much alive. We had a daughter in May & that’s pretty freaking incredible. Our two boys have been the most stoked big brothers she could have. Life is great & the truck is running tip top despite being neglected and only a pavement pounder this year. The 5:29 gears seriously make this truck a pleasure to zip around in even with the big tires and heavy beadlocks. Just rolled over 150k miles. Due for a rotation & oil change

FINALLY making some progress on modifying my SOS off-road concepts mid skid to link up to my front WARFAB chop kit skid. Got it chopped and welded up tonight. Put a nice chamfer on the leading edge so it doesn’t get caught on trip wire like a pouty lip. MAN it feels good to pick up the welder again. Been dying to fire it up. Also going to cut and weld some tabs for my fog lights.

 

Skid rework is done & cut some light pod brackets from the scrap I cut off. Feels so good to be done with these two projects in a very busy season of my life

 

It looks mean without the bumper I'm digging that look. It would look even crazier with some LT!

Today I did an absolutely terrible job welding in my welds taco front diff reinforcement plate. Upside down & didn’t jack the truck up enough.

Ive been putting off doing mine because i hate welding upside down. Yours doesnt look too bad, i have much worst looking welds on my rear shock tabs.

 

I feel the same way. I said hell no and had a buddy tig weld mine on while the truck sat on a lift.

 

I didn’t even jack my truck up enough either so I barely had enough room for my helmet and myself under there & then my freaking helmet adjuster int he back wouldn’t let me lay my head on the floor the way I needed to. It was frustrating but I got it done. Nice for peace of mind & in the process one of my rear most 12mm skid mounting bolts stripped. The frame threads are ok but I need to get a new bolt for that one.

 

Y’all are sure making me feel a LOT better about my horrible job
