I don't understand that...my cruise control works perfectly. The transmission shifts no differently with or without...I do sometimes keep mine in S-mode on 5 depending on traffic conditions and if I have cargo. And I like the CC adaptive feature.

Trying combining S mode with CC. Start the drive in S6. Set the cruise. If it downshifts, shift to S5. If it downshifts again, shift to S4. Repeat as needed. Don't shift back to a higher gear in S mode until you can visually see that the slope of the road has changed.

Weird, cruise control works fine on tacoma. Can't tell any difference from the tundra i had. Automatic works the same to. Truck will downshift, and climb a long steep grade at a little over 2k at 55 mph.

Mine works fine no complaints it is a 6 speed manual. I can see it shifting a bit with an automatic.

Maybe in the auto. In the 6 spd the key is 45. I can get 25+ MPGs at that speed lol

MPGs went down later in this drive; I'm a little over half way through the tank in this pic.

I drove 90 each way with the cruise control set at 70

I’m loving the cruise control in this truck.
Took me a bit to use it correctly but once it’s set up it’s fairly simple…I set it to two car lengths and if need be I drop it out to pass someone..

Another one that goes by what the dash claims. Didn't anyone learn math these days?

I just refueled my 2.7L auto. About 2/3 city driving and 1/3 highway this tank (okay maybe 60%/40%). My tank average computer stated 21.1 mpg. My total miles divided by gallons to second fuel pump shutoff calculated to 21.1 mpg. My cruise control is a POS, but the fuel computer is spot-on again.

Without knowing tire weight, even if everyone is stock height, mph will vary wildly

I've already done the calculations dozens of times. It's accurate. If yours isn't...sucks for you.

The fuel computer seems to be spot on when you do a long trip starting with a full tank till the next fillup. Short trips good luck with that.

It's been a while since I looked or calculated.

But if I recall correctly, I probably get about 17 mpg with local driving, maybe 19 or 20 when I commute which includes about fifteen minutes of highway driving then thirty to forty minutes of semi rural hilly roads.

It's about what I expected where it was about a 2 mpg increase from my previous truck and what was expected from the epa stickers.

The only time I average above 20 a tank is on road trips with long highway driving with no traffic, and the most recent time I think was about 24 or 25 mpg.

So I have no complaints about the mileage my stock Tacoma gets and didn't really expect to get over 20 mpg based on my previous truck.

It's been a while since I looked at it but from what I recall the dashboard's calculations weren't far off for calculations per tank. So I haven't manually calculated anything in a while.

OK my dude, even though it doesn't really matter. Lets boil it down to the numbers.
1st off it's 22 miles round trip per day as plainly stated in my page 4 post, not each way.
    • 1.5 miles 45 mph city. 1 stop sign and 3 stop lights. Then about 8.5 miles hwy. 65 mph. Then about 1 mile 35 mph city. 1 stop sign and 2 stop lights. 11 miles total. 2.5 city 8.5 hwy. 29% city 71% hwy.
    • Reverse of that coming home. Same 29%-71% split.

Weekends are all city. 35-45 mph zones. That 70 miles spread over 3 weekends averaging 23 miles/weekend is 100% city.
Yes the the 70 weekend miles out of 400 is only 17%. But add in 5 miles per weekday of city 75+70=145. 145/400 = 36% city.
So the 40% I quoted has an error of 4 percentage points.

When I look at my tank averages it's not a 300-400 mile daily trip with 2-3 starts/stops. With a stoplight or 3.
Its over 3 weeks with the mileage being 64% hwy. 36 city. The trucks operating conditions over that 3 weeks have to be considered.
    • 55-60 engine starts and stops. 21 of them being morning cold starts.
    • 40 give or take 2 or 3 stop signs
    • And at least 130-140 stoplights.
True the mileage may be a 64-36 split. But the trucks operation time is a probably 50/50 hwy/city.

So Yes, getting 21 mpg with the above mentioned lines over a 3 week period to me is quite good.
    Considering V6, DC, 4X4 and 32's. :D

Hell, I'm on track with this tank if the stars align to get right at if not on 22 mpg. With the same above mentioned conditions.

i get best MPGs in s4 with city driving with speed limit 55 or under. s5 for highway. not sure what s6 is for but i feel it's too high of gear unless you are going downhill.

My truck never came with S6. Toyota must have figured its unnecessary and deleted it.
