Spent the day getting radiant floor heat run in the garage. Was a last minute thought to do it. Not an ideal layout as the grid the contractor laid out is pretty wide. But it'll be better than no heat! Should still work decent with the insulated foundation.

 

Glad you did it though! Not something you can add later that's for sure!

 

No kidding! And as long as it melts the snow off the vehicles. It'll be a damn site better than what I've dealt with the last 4 years

 

Planning to do it in the main house as well? I know it's an upfront cost, but my understanding (having never had it) is that it pays for itself over time and is very nice...

 

Hope you have a drain. Our cars melt in the winter but have no where for the water to properly drain to. Such is the struggle with a heated garage.

 

no not the full house. Would be nice, but we are(hopefully) splurging on hardwood floors and radiant floor heat does not play nice with that. But I am considering electric 220v pads for the bathroom. But idk if that'll be do able.

Shit's so expensive.


The new shop/studio build will be all radiant floor though.

Bummer, why no drains? That seems like an oversite on whoever built it.

My Aunt and Uncle have the 220 pads in their bathroom. It's very nice to walk on warm tile in the winter

 

Any of you guys with a 33 tooth speedo gear ever pull it back out? Mine has been in for years, and is super worn in the middle. To the point where I'm surprised the speedo still works.

Might just put the stock gear back in and get one of the electronic calibrators.

 

Interesting. I've never looked at mine. Maybe I should. 110K miles since I regeared.

 

So did my parents in their remodel. It is super nice.

 

Same with a bathroom fan with heat. Thought it was a dumb thing till my wife had me install one. It's nice lol

 

I pulled mine when I swapped tcases a couple months ago. Installed at 83K, pulled at 204K to put in the new case. Looked fine.

Still, if I were to do it again, I'd get the Lutz. Seems super clean and easy to calibrate.

Wasn't without drama though. They did the whole floor using the wrong floor plan. So had to redo stuff today. But they got it all fixed and should be starting the 2nd floor tomorrow.

Yep. Devin loves 2 story houses. This is loosely based on a colonial design. Couldn't do a full on one due to cost sadly. Which was our original design. But this will still be nice.

My parents house is 2 stories too. It's nice.

Plus the 2nd floor will give us a great view of the beartooths over the trees.

 

I grew up in a 2 lever plus a basement. Nope. Single level is my style. In fact, my house in CDA, was ADA, no stairs whatsoever and THAT was perfect. If I ever build from scratch I'm going ADA. Doubt I'll ever afford that.
