Regardless of what branch you are in, what is everybody's favorite fighter aircraft and why? The natural choice for me would be this...

    A89AE62C-233A-44C7-BFA5-25F67C156003.jpg

My dad was in the Navy for 25 years, and his favorite still is the Tomcat, so that rubbed off on me. My dad was stationed at Norfolk from 1998 to 2000, and we lived in Virginia Beach; Our next door neighbor was also a Naval officer and fighter pilot who flew, you guessed it, Tomcats.

So yeah, what's everybody's favorite fighter plane?

And then as far as my favorite US military aircraft ever, it would have to be the P-3 Orion; My dad was navigator on P-3s, and while I obviously never flew on one, my dad regularly brought me aboard when there happened to be one in the hangar.

I love me some F-4G Wild Weasel.

But the baddest of the bad was the F-4C belonging to one Colonel Robin Olds.

Between the F22 and A10 I’m not sure what else I’d be interested in flying!

    What a combo :D

I grew outside Homestead AFB. Used to be able to see the F4’s scramble out to Cuba at night.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.

I grew up on Mather AFB outside of Sacramento, California. It was a training base. We typically only saw B52s and stratotankers. Every now and then we would see various fighters flow over housing. loved it when the air show came to town. I remember the first time I saw a F117. You couldn't get near it. It was roped off and heavily guarded. It's hard to believe it was introduced in '83.

The Tomcat would be my favorite.

Nope. But it's fucking crazy fast and when supersonic at, let's say 500 feet, it can break all the windows in, well, wherever Saddam Hussain is sleeping. 4 nights in a row.

Operation PHEONIX SCORPION, 1998. Interesting deployment.
