    I have never had one, but this bike came with one on it(it's the normal height, and I need the low)..........well worth it. Now the stock seat may be more comfortable than my DRZ was, but I wouldn't imagine so. I'm a believer after having one.

    This was a blast, looking forward to the next.

    I figured out another new way to use the BMW Connected app. I downloaded a .GPX file on Mac (from rideBDR.com) and saved on iPhone. I think I’ll be able to avoid the wallet assault for a gps a little longer. 624647E0-93C7-4369-8BB4-1668EB963142.jpg

    I went and took a look at that v-star today. Battery was amazingly not dead and the gas smelled fine. Put in the key, cranked it over a few times to get oil flowing, then turned on the petcock to get some gas going before cranking it a couple times. It was about 80 outside so I thought I might not need any choke but was very wrong. Wouldn't idle without choke and would die if you took it off. Told the guy yup, plugged jets, $50-100 for a rebuild kit and probably 3 hours to remove the tank, remove the carbs, and get them cleaned up.

    The more important part of this story though, we were bullshitting about bikes after, and he mentions he has a 1984 XR500 he's looking to sell that apparently still runs great and has been in his family for forever. Wants help trying to find a price to list it at. I'm very intrigued.

    @uurx will buy it.

    Speaking of carb issues, thats exactly what my power washer does. Only runs on choke. So youre saying needs a new carb? Im not trying to figure out how to rebuild that

    My wild ass guess would be yeah, jet's probably just clogged. Pull off the carb, take the bowl off the bottom, spray carb or brake cleaner through the brass jet(s), reassemble. It'd probably be easier and faster to do that than find the right carb to buy aftermarket haha

    Edit: plugged jets or idle air circuit is plugged, if it has one

    My advice on anything carbed is just when you're done using it, shut off the gas and let it run itself dry. Then you have an empty bowl and nothing to clog up your jets.

    Thanks for sharing. I've been holding off on this seat upgrade for a while.

    Now the bike can get some love too with my truck getting new lower control arms and my car getting a full new suspension

    That would put the seat at $187. That's a great price, just can't afford to buy it right now. I have the regular height, so it will work for now. I suppose I could sell the one I have one the bike to offset the cost......
