Sold the Taco and got a Tundra after a couple years of denial about needing a bigger truck. About the third time I had to use my work chevy to tow something I sold the Taco for a full size.

Someday I want to meet you and learn how to climb from your kids. If I can get my own boys past the rock throwing and pants soiling stage of life…

Sold my Tacoma for 6 weeks and bought it back.

A Tundra if I win the lottery. Because that is the only way I could afford a oil change in it.

Neighbor just got a GMC Sierra 1500 all blacked out. Looks awesome and had tons of space in the back seat for 3 kids.

Was not aware they snuck a small eco-diesel in the 1500 model, thought it was strictly 2500-3500 models with diesel options or the v8. I'd probably go for one of those too if i needed a more fuel efficient and better towing vehicle. Plenty of space, luxurious, comfortable. In a normal market how much does that go for? $60k?

OP, if your mission is family adventure and not a tow pig or wheeler then a Sprinter 4x4 or Transit 4x4 might be a fit. They work great for several people I know with families ( my brother DDs a Sprinter in a metro area) and must admit I'm sometimes envious of the ability to walk upright from the driving station to the relatively expansive cargo hold.

.. and you can choose a diesel, twin turbo or naturally aspirated.

    Check build thread!
As spec’d this was 66k CAD. 2nd highest trim level with every available option included option (off-road package, long bed, full bucket seats, heated everything etc).

I like it a lot. Only thing holding me back is they don’t offer the diesel in a single cab and that’s what I’d want. If I needed a crew cab this is what I’d buy.

I love my 2020 OR and it has pretty much all the options including sun roof, but I don’t use them as much as I thought I would. if I were to trade for a full size it would be going back to the basics. F150 regular cab 8ft bed. V8

My dad had a 74 HiLux long bed that he put a camper shell on. He and my mother rode in the cab while us three kids rode in the bed. Could not even imagining that now! Lol

Honestly wish i’d just got the Tundra to begin with. Apples and oranges though. I tow, haul, and build so I just needed a full size. The Taco was capable but I wasnt able to tow our camper or tractor, so having a truck that I couldnt use for half of the things Id got a truck for was a hard pass. I only paid $1k more for the Tundra after selling the Taco right before the pandemic shit hit the fan on prices (May ‘20). Size-wise its only something like 8” wider and 6” longer than my DCLB taco was and I have zero issues navigating it through the city even with the tow mirrors.

edit: my Tundra also gets the same if not better gas mileage with the 5.7 vs 4.0 Riddle me that. :cookiemonster:

If you're talking about the 2nd gen Tundra then my response to the riddle is:

Treating the gas and brake pedals like a toggle switch, driving in mountainous terrain OR towing.

    What do I win? :D

Second gen, yes (but same mpgs as a few pilot friends with the third gens). Comparing going A to B with the same empty trucks came out about the same MPGs. (Such as a grocery store run) But you get a thumbs up.

    Damn dog. Ice cold.

I'd drive a Honda Ridgeline if it's what my girl wanted to take on our camping adventures. Life's just more fun together. :ballchain::D

When Tacoma drops a V8 into this truck, or supercharges it and give it a "Tacoma SS" badge, that'll be the truck I get.
