Hey guys. Buying gaskets, chain guides and all that for the truck. I was doing some reading and supposedly the head bolts are a one time use thing. If the head is getting worked on do I also need new head bolts? Supposedly they are torque to yield or something like that?

 

Get new bolts. They get stretched. Did a headgasket (failure by the way) Had to torque them down and then do 3 or 4 90 degree turns after torqueing the head bolts down. I suggest getting ARP bolts

 

Another vote from me for new bolts.

 

Yea I did end up buying new bolts along with gaskets, and timing chain guides. Should be good to go. Hoping to finally be over this and get the truck back soon.

 

You've had a rough go of it with that truck man. Guardrails, rust, and now this.

 

Yea. Hasn't been kind but the trucks a fighter. Costs of repair haven't been huge for what it's gone through. If it lasts for a while then I consider it a win.

 

What the heck is up with tire prices right now? I am trying to schedule a regear to 4.88s and I need to step up to 285/75r16 so that I can actually drive on the highway.

Any recommendations? My previous prospective tire choices are now no bueno for my bank account...

Yar... It's bad enough that I'll need to evaluate the timing on the regear

 

Might be better off snagging some toyota 17s and some 285 wildpeak takeoffs from a jeep gladiator. Might be able to get away under 1k.
