0% humidity? What does that feels like?

I burned a sick day today, I have another app't with the tooth doctor at 2:45. I was going to work a 1/2 day and leave from work but then I realized that I have 3 days left there ( Friday is the last day) and I have 32 hrs of PTO that they won't pay me for when I leave, so screw it. I can fight with the lawn tractor some more this morning. It has developed an appetite for drive belts. I had it a-part again yesterday looking for bad idler pulleys, burrs on pulleys, leaky engine oil, ect. I can't find a thing. It's from around 1995, a White LT-13 so it uses a silly CVT style pulley system for "gears". It looks like a newer-ish pulley that seems to be ok.. I dunno. I don't want to spend the $$ for anything newer so I left with dealing with this gem.

Good morning folks! Happy hump day! Finally getting a slow soaking rain this morning.

Have the best day you can!
Skeeters came out last night is force. Had to hang out in the garage with the doors closed to avoid them while having a smoke.

My wife is trying to talk me into a trip to Europe or the Mediterranean for our 35th next year. I'm thinking more like something on this side of the planet.

I had problems with the drive belts on both my little JD 42" lawn tractor and Husqvarna 48". Both issues were the front belt guides. The JD had broken off one side and the Husq was somehow bent. Both caused enough wobbling and flopping in the belt to cause breakage. Went through an additional belt before I realized the Husq was just bent out of shape causing the belt to pop out of the guide.

With humid heat you rot until you are a festering pile of goo. With dry heat you petrify until you are a dried up skeleton waiting for the wind to turn you to dust.

Rough day but just had a good laugh...
My landlord just dropped by and knocked on my door.
Him: did you see who mowed the lawn recently.
Me: Yep, the lawn people you hired were here just yesterday.
    Him: I didn't hire anyone
Me: well....there was a lawn service crew here yesterday AND it's not the first time they've mowed this year.
    Him: o_O
Me: how many times have you mowed this year?
    Him: once
Me: well then this crew has been by 3 times now.

We both started laughing. I haven't seen the truck and their shirts don't have a logo on them so no idea who's mowing my lawn but man have they messed up! I told my landlord I'd keep an eye out for them and call next time they're here. Or not and we get free lawn care for the summer

We kind of do the same. try to purchase local. till garden comes in we buy at local farm market to support small farmers in the area, plus its usually better quality. small stand not a mile from the house. right now soil grown hot house tomatoes, taste as sweet as what you grow compared to the usual early hydrophonic ones. local honey, sausage etc…

That's a horrible idea. What time?
We had a three week Australia / New Zealand trip planned a few years ago. Then we had a job loss. Trip insurance covered everything but the flights, so we flew out to Cali and saw Kings / Sequoia / Yosemite NP's over about 10 days. Pre-covid and pre-Sequoia fires. Grand Canyon last fall, Big Bend area this fall.

Years ago I attended an outdoor wedding for a friend in mid August up in the Rockies. It was near 100, but the humidity was very low. Personally, I was able to handle that better than when I spent a summer in Miami where it was often in the high 80s, low 90s - in both temperature and humidity. For me, it's the humidity that kills.

I was being sarcastic when I replied to Weesa, I remember being in the SoCal desert (29 Palms) and parts of Death Valley and experiencing near zero humidity. Like some friends that live in Phoenix would jokingly tell me- 'it's a dry heat'... So far we have been lucky to avoid a lot of the typical sub-tropical weather in the Mid-Atlantic, it's been dry-ish ( 20-30%) and down into the low 60's/upper 50's at night. My asthma likes low humidity.

Back from the tooth doctor- the other filling is complete. This one wasn't nearly as bad as the one last week. I'm already eating a fresh bagel on that side.

I got 2 new OEM drive belts for the old White lawn tractor, $75 for 2 belts. I hope this fixes the slipping issue. The are a LOT wider then the aftermarket replacements, so hopefully it will work. I saw an electric ride-on Cub Cadent mower on the showroom floor- $4800... I guess I will buy goats to eat the lawn when I can't afford gas for the lawn mowers anymore, lol.

Evening everyone , yes humidity makes the heat worse, but 100* is a 100*, the humidity does suck though. In Michigan the weather people get excited with 30% humidity , “it’s so dry”. But for Michigan that is pretty dry, we have a few lakes.:rain:

wet hot or dry hot - it all sucks
but wet cold and dry cold - there's a difference there for sure!
