How do they define proof, that is a good deal if you can diy it, is there some kind of mileage limit on the "lifetime" or is it just forever.

100% it is non-transferrable. do you think they are going to throw an engine in the thing in 2042 for the 9th owner or something?

Don’t forget to do the maintenance on the Transfer case, and diffs.
While my truck is a 2nd Gen, they pretty much the same front differential/design.
My needle bearing failed at 100k. I am not lifted. I’m 100% stock.

My local dealership offers the same “lifetime power training”.
Unless you do the maintenance yourself, it can cost fair bit of money keeping up with the maintenance schedule.

The Dealership I purchased my truck from does the same thing. Lifetime powertrain warranty. "Internally lubricated parts".
Service doesn't have to be done there just need said proof. I have a local Dealership that I have dealt with for 20+ years. I take the truck there for service. I've never had a problem with them and they keep said proof. I bought the truck at another Dealership because other said Dealership had an allocation on an AG Pro. And said Dealership accepted and offer of $3,500 under MSRP.

I had a conversation with an old employee that said dont go over on mileage. If you are 100 miles over on 10000 mile oil change, then they will try to void warranty. Not written but understood. If you get what i mean. That is just another reason i will do oil changes every 5k, so no way to cheat me out of it. It is a game they all play. Like no interest on loans as long as you pay it off before the due date and never pay late.

i guarantee there's an asterisk by the "lifetime" that says something like "expected lifetime of vehicle is 100k miles or 10 years, whichever comes first"

I’ve never seen one that covered “normal wear and tear”.
Everything wears, I’d be interested to see when “normal” has been surpassed.

Ya that's were it would come up, the factory limit for the timing system is like 120k before it needs to be checked I bet that's were they call it.

I’m not gonna argue with you on the internet man, I was talking about multiple different things. Things that have happen and do happen. You can take them however you want. I said I don’t know all the final outcomes and break downs over who covered what. What I do know is I’ve personally seen the final invoice for a 20k repair that I know the customer never paid 1 penny. That job was out of the factory warranty period and I believe that one was fully cover by Ford. Then I said there was a F150 that never had its oil changed and the owner out ~45k miles on it and sludged the motor. They put a brand new crate long block into it, right in front of my service bay. That motor alone was 16k I heard only reason I remember is because at the time I had a new F150 ecoboost and remember thinking if there was ever a problem outside of warranty I’d be fucked. Especially since I seen how many manifolds and turbos were being thrown in those. So it made me decide to not keep that truck and get my Taco. I’ve said I’ve seen the Auto group I work for cover many things under goodwill. Obviously not 20k jobs but I’ve seen us cover and do things that were thousands of dollars. One in particular off the top of my head was more sales related, but may be a great example because the manufacture definitely wouldn’t cover this; a customer was sold a Explorer. He said he needed a trailer hitch to tow his trailer when he was buying his explorer. They set him up with me to have it done. He comes in, I ask what he’s towing. He said a 16ft enclosed trailer with a couple thousand lbs of tools and equipment in it. I asked him if he was joking. He said no. I told him that his explorer wasn’t rated for that much weight. I looked up the spec from Ford and it came back I think around 2000-2500lb rating since he didn’t have the factory tow package. He had the 3.5 but the car didn’t have some of the coolers. Can remember if it had the oil cooler and not the trans cooler and power steering cooler or what. Anyway to get that rating from Ford you needed all of that. The customer lost his shit and went over to the sales building. I was told to put the hitch and wire on so that’s what I did. The guy had words with the managers and it go Escalades pretty high up in the chain. Next week the car was back in the shop and they ordered the factory hitch, coolers, lines, bumper valance, and whatever else parts they needed to get it to factory spec. I would of been easier and cheaper to just put him into a new vehicle with the factory tow package. Plus the sales department had to eat the parts and labor they already had me install for his aftermarket tow package. Which was like $700. Total they were somewhere around 5k if I remember correctly. Stuff like this happened all the time. Not to the tune of that much money, but I can attest several hundred dollars on a frequent basis. They would also hand out $100 gift cards to certain service customers for their troubles when things went bad. That money was all from goodwill money they got back from Ford from what I was told. It was my appointment coordinator and another lady who were in charge of that stuff so it was a reliable source. I used to ask all the time how they made money giving things out for free like that. That store was the worst by far of the group, from the several I worked in. I’ve worked for another larger auto group and they would rarely give anything away for free like that. And I know most don't so it doesn’t sound believable. It still baffles me to this day, how profitable they are even after that kind of stuff. Especially when they give thousands to the community and the big employee appreciation events they would do for the entire group. Just shows how much dealerships make
