Because all of the seep/leak seems to be gather on or around the valve itself. When I removed the black clip to clean everything up there was oil on it too. So I’m just wondering if it’s not tight enough.

Mornin' Joe. When I installed my Fumoto's and then began using them I noticed that some oil would stay up inside the valve exit port. I bought them when there was only two types and went with the longer nipple version on purpose. But that nipple and everything below the actual shut off point will hold a small amount of oil. I eventually twisted up a paper towel and jammed it up in there. Sure enough, earl. So I wonder since you don't have any skids if air passing over it is causing it to be pulled out of there faster than a vehicle with a skid.

This would lead you to believe the valve itself was failing.

Just putting a feeler out there…Would anyone be interested (or know anyone interested) in buying my Bakflip MX4 bed cover? It’s for the short bed 3rd Gen Taco.

If my A.R.E. topper ever arrives I will be selling the Bakflip, so I’m trying to get the ball rolling on that lol

I sold my BillieBars last weekend so the Bakflip is the last thing to go in preparation for my truck’s final form.

But is it not the lowest point, you know, for things to collect at? o_O

i’m not trying to bust your balls  i’d just like to help you figure it out.

When you did your VC gaskets, did you do the RTV?

Personally I don’t believe in the fulmoto valve because I think it’s a massive liability for the small amount of time it saves

It is indeed. And it’s all good bro, I appreciate the conversation about it because at the end of the day I’m looking for other input aside from just mine. When I did vcg’s I used only the Toyota gaskets. Did the half moons, spark plug tube seals, etc etc. I actually went to Toyota this morning and picked up a new OEM drain plug and plan to drain the oil today or tomorrow and ditch the Fumoto. My old OEM plug was in rough shape and it only cost $8 so I said why not. I like the idea of having the Fumoto but not at the cost of potential oil leaks and such. Totally not worth that!!!

:fingerscrossed: it is not the Fumoto, but if it is, I bet you contact whoever you got it from and they send you a new one for free. If not, I will buy you one so I can sleep better at night, not worrying about mine.

To be honest Rob, I bought it from Amazon. I’m going to return it to the ups store and get a full refund from Amazon for it. I’d rather get my money back and call it a day. That’s kind of you, though. Hopefully my one experience won’t frighten you or others, but I’ll feel better about running the OEM plug!

I also forgot to mention, there was a bit of oil seep on the pan, right near the drain plug closest to the rear of the truck, if that makes sense. Not a lot, but I could visibly see it. Hoping this new OEM drain plug will resolve that.
