Dang I missed the fun.

Looks fun. I am both happy and sad I don't have the land for a tractor. I am juuuuuuuust on the cusp for a riding mower - if I had one it wouldn't be like "that's way too much" - but I have a self propelled push and it does the trick a okay.

How much land you got up there? Didn't know you had so much.

 

A Honda Grom would be perfect although way over your budget unless used.

 

Motorcycle license needed, plus budget yeah.

I hate riding motorcycles. All the respeft to those who want to but I've almost been run off the road enough in a big ass Tacoma, I hate driving down here.

I'm using it to get to and from work 1.5 miles away. That's as far as I'd take it. Same with my bike. I drive the 2 ish miles to the trailhead to ride my road bike because the roads are sketch city here.

 

I'm sorry if this is inappropriate but this gave me a giggle.

 

If you hate motorcycles why do you want a moped? It’s the same thing just slower. At least a motorcycle can keep up with traffic.

Nah. All good.
We are still here, and I still have 2 other bikes.. well, 1 bike, and one currently a basket case.
I won't give it up.
But, it isn't for everyone, and that is cool.
I won't see a lot of miles this year, and the dog is absolutely heartbroken I'm sure...,

 

1.5 miles each way and I'm on a "main" road for like 1 minute. I ride a bicycle right now but come winter, etc I could be convinced to rock a moped.

A bike I'd be way too tempted to take around more places.

 

I used to bike to the commuter rail station for years. The first couple years was about 3/4 mile and I would ride everyday unless it was down pouring. I had studded tires for the winter. Then I moved about 3 miles away and did that when the weather was decent. It really starts to wear you out doing it everyday. I got a cheap motorcycle and fixed it up and rode that everyday as long as it was over 38 degrees in the morning. That was much better than biking, quicker and no sweating. Then the commuter rail service started sucking and the price went up so I just drive to work.

I had one when I was 14 and lived in Las Vegas. We used to run desert trails all the time.

Not sure on using one in the winter around here... that scares me. Snow and ice suck on 2 wheels.

 

That’s kind of my thought. I don’t take the train though. Fortunately the route TO work is like 87% downhill, so there’s little to no sweating. The way HOME can on some days, that’s really the “I wish I had an engine” moment.

I don’t mind it for now, but through the end of the year I have to run home at lunch nearly every day, so it would be nice to not have to change, get sweaty on 95 degree days, etc. In THEORY, I have to anyway though, most of those days I will be taking the dog for a run around the block using the bike, so I’d have to change anyway.

Eh anyway, point is if I can find some wheels for <1k I might be convinced to be about it.

I’m in the same boat - I used my old 26” MTB and have gotten “slick” wheels on it so far, with the intent I want to have disc brakes. I can’t do that, and then go WAAHHHHH it’s raining

Don’t get me wrong, if I ever get a different job and need to get rid of it, it would be going tally-ho into the trails

Snow and ice covered roads, YES I would definitely not ride moped or bicycle. I’m in RI. Genuinely, even from y’all, we’re south. This past winter I didn’t work here, but would have been “unable” to ride on the roads due to snow/ice for maybe….2-3 weeks total?

I’m actually MORE likely to ride in the cold of winter. Not the ice, sure, but (1) I’d have to warm up the truck or scrape the ice for a 4 minute drive. I’d spend more time and fuel warming it up than the ride to work…. (2) Cold = less sweat

My slight worry is daylight, if it’s dark out, could be sketchy.

 

Good for you man. My good friend has a 100 series John Deer and it always surprises me how many uses he can find for it.
