That a temp sensor?

 

good eye. yes. i wanted to monitor my s/c coolant temp. typical is 14* above ambient post heat exchanger. iirc the fitting is a brass unit from autometer with an aem temp gauge.

 

i was curious how effective the heat exchanger was with weather change. it really does well. wanted a starting point for data leading other ideas.

 

That’s cool! Really well, as in stable though weather changes? How long have you been monitoring it?

 

quite a while. i did see a change in cooling ability with straight distilled water and redline water wetter. glycol is my thing in winter but for hot months i change. noticeable difference. 15-20% better/lower intake water.

 

basically the heat exchanger magnuson made for this truck works fine....where i live. i cant be certain about other areas of the country.

 

Nice I’ve been thinking about adding one to see how much it cools. I always wonder how the S/c is cooling

 

ive done both in and out of the intercooler. incoming is a much more stable # to follow.

 

Just trying to understand/thinking about it.. why would it be beneficial to use another type of liquid to absorb heat other than glycol (antifreeze) or coolant (diluted antifreeze)? What other liquids have you tried? currently looking at liquid heat transfer properties haha

 

straight water IS more effective than glycol. but...frozen youre f*cked. why glycol is a great all weather solution.

 

i dont mind spending 20min twice a year for max cooling abilitys. im just a nerd like that. double digit boost helper.

 

and has anti-corrosion properties. one thing i was currious on running in the supercharger coolant is the evans waterless coolant.

 

im interested. tell more. ive used redline water wetter with distilled. sometimes a little glycol mix.

 

cant say much more than the sale pitch but am interested to try. mostly in the anti-corrosion properties and its convection.

Straight water is capable of displacing heat better than coolant/ glycol mix. Unfortunately, water and aluminum = corrosion and eventual rust which is cancerously detrimental on a cooling system. So solutions like Water Wetter, Royal Purples ice, and even Evans waterless coolant restores the waters anti corrosive and anti rusting capabilities (depending on where you live, however, freezing can still be a potential factor so using some traditional coolant in the mix is something I advise as a just in case).

Overheating was an issue on supercharged Corvette ZR1 C7's at the track when they first rolled out. The immediate fix for them was to switch to water wetter or similar solutions/ water and that abated the overheating issues on those cars immediately.

Water wetter has anti corrosive properties built into it.

 

One correction - overheating was an issue on supercharged Corvette Z06 C7's at the track when they rolled out, circa 2015. Those problems were largely mitigated with cooling system upgrades starting in the 2017 MY and going thru the final C7 MY in 2019. C7 ZR1s (produced only in the 2019 MY) were not plagued by any significant or widespread cooling issues.

 

Oh yeah that's right it was the Z06's.

 

What do you guys think of a 25hp or 50 shot of nitrous to cool down intake charge.

 

Run forged internals first and a good pump and injector combo.

 

I just bought the rousch tensioner. Do you remove the bolt from the pullie like the serpentine belt tensioner? reverse?
