Aggressive as in the sidewall lug depth, it's been proven on the mega toyo at3 thread. Japan made, the lugs are less pronounced when compared to the USA ones, even if you go SL LT or E rating.

Looks great. Got any more pics from other angles? Would like to see how your offset looks with the tires & wheels.

    You are correct.

10 ply Toyos on my work van are made in Japan and the sidewall lugs are basically non existent. A bit strange for an AT in my opinion.

The tread pattern looks really good though.

Not sure if this was mentioned but the sidewall lug depth is slightly deeper on one side as compared to the other. I had to have the tire shop flip some of my tires after I told them there was a difference. I have had my AT3s for about 15K and I have no problem with them. They have a little road noise to them but that's it. Did pretty good in snow AND ICE this winter. I have yet to break traction on wet surfaces and I have tried.

The thing with tires is you can't "have it all" a grippy tire is going to wear faster and a tire with a 70-80K warranty is not going to have the greatest traction at all like, for instance, my Michelin LTX MS after about 40K on my old Exploder. Those F'ing things were dangerous the more miles they got. I sold that truck to my brother in law with about 50k on the tires and my brother-in law got about 20K more miles on them. I didn't care for him too much. :spy:

Looks like you have the 265/70r17's which should be made in the USA and it's true you will have a more "aggressive" looking side. Japan ones are like the ones Junkhead has pictured, nonexistent on both sides.
They do perform amazing and the tread pattern is really nice for on road manners and off road performance. If they looked better I would probably buy another set just based on the performance but I'll be looking at either the Ko2, Grabber ATX or WP AT3W for my next set.

Really looking for a tire that has 3PMS symbol and the aggressive aesthetics.

Can anyone chime in re: Wet Traction on the Wildpeak AT3W SL (after a couple years) vs Toyo AT3 SL after a couple years?

I've put about 45k on my Falken Wildpeak AT3W SL at this point and I love them. They were beasts in the rain when they were new, but I have noticed a tendency over the past 20k or so for water to start to grab hold of them (we get monsoons out where I live and the roads fill up quickly). I don't remember the factory Toyo A30 highway tires doing that.

Just weighing stuff before I replace them within the next 10-20k.

You're referring to the Toyos, not the Falken AT3Ws right? If so I'm surprised to see it...seems like everyone is raving about how good they are. Wet performance is my number one thing I'm critical on as it's always randomly raining in TX and our roads are slick, so I need a good grippy tire. If that is not how the Toyos are in the rain then that sucks and makes me rethink them.

We had a heavy rain storm for a week here in Alberta, 1 months worth of rain in 2-3 days.
I run Toyo AT3's and never had any traction issues on wet pavement, even on the smooth newly paved sections of the highway. My Toyo's didn't break in the slightest, I have about 13k miles on them and they still look new.

I live on the wet coast of BC. Where it rains 399 days of the year. These tires have been flawless in mild rain, torrential rain, light dusting of snow, that transition from dry to sprinkling rain and freezing rain. They haven't hydroplaned on the highway doing 120kms and rivers running down the pavement. I have complete confidence with these tires in rain. That was my number one concern before purchasing.

I have had AT's previously that were like running shoes on an ice rink in rain. The Toyo's have plenty of siping that most AT's don't have. This improves rain traction and it shows. These work.

Good to hear. I have had Duratracs that with maybe 15K miles on them they were like slicks in the rain, any braking and you were sliding. Utterly terrifying on damp asphalt. I ran General Grabber ATX for a while and really liked them. BFG KO2's I don't like at all, they are like the Duratracs but without the Duratrac noise. Toyos were next in the plan so they sound like they'll be like the Generals. Still looking to get them, just was curious why the guy said they're so bad.

Anybody off roach much with Toyo SL tires? I want a set of Toyo's but they don't make a C load in the 265/70/17 size. Seems like my only options are BFG, Coopers, or General Grabbers in a 265/70/17 C load. Then again, I don't know if I really off road enough to require a C load tire but better safe than sorry I suppose.

FWIW, I have KM3 285/75/16's and the spare fits OK. Even after the fabricator of my swing out bumper told me that because of the modifications, it would no longer fit. So I tried it and it fits fine. Been driving like that for about 2 years. That said, I'm ready to dump the KM3s after 35K miles. The noise and vibration on the highway is... beyond the pale. I'm shopping for Toyo AT IIIs now. I'm going to drop back to 265/70/16s for slightly better mileage and hopefully being able to fit back in the garage. We'll see.

I’m getting AT3s put on today to replace a set of Kenda Klevers I got off Simple tire that could not be balanced (one had 90lbs of road force…) I’m praying these balance perfectly so I can drive in peace again. Maybe Simple Tire will even refund me! Just need to wait 20 more days for their decision

Tread pattern looks very well thought out. I have these on my work van and they are great.

Set my appointment for Saturday 8AM. Toyo ATIII, XL, 265/65R17. Downsizing from LT E 265/70R17 KO2s. Tired of the heavy ass tires and mpg being awful on the highway for no reason. PO put them on, I never would have. The Toyos will look a bit small but better than stock and I’m shaving off 16 lbs per tire so it should be worth it.

I considered the 265/70R17 for 1 lb more but I wanted the better mpg and performance of a smaller tire with less leverage against drivetrain.

Driver issues.. probably not. I am super conservative on the road. :)

Yes, I was referring to the Toyos and I'm actually also in BC!

I've had the front and rear lose traction on snow, although it was quite windy and I am running Elka 2.5 which is a pretty stiff setup...
