Wheel Bearing

Hey Guys, have any of you replaced a wheel bearing on your trucks?

I have a 2008 TRD w/ 70000+miles and had to change one last week.

Is it common for our trucks or am i just unlucky?

 

that sounds pretty normal...I think the whole sealed wheel bearing design has become a problem accross the board.

What if you haven't changed one and you have just over 74,000... oops?!

 

Jack up the truck and wiggle the wheel, 12 and 6, and 3 and 9. ANY play needs to be investigated. If the the play is the same 12 and 6, and 3 and 9 it is likely a wheel bearing. Spin the wheel and listen for noise or harshness.

how much are these to replace?

 

it depends. One axle has bearings you can pull or push into the bearing plate the other I seem to remember doesnt.
THey're like a bill or 2 a wheel unfortunately if you get the full on bearing assembly from toyota. Like 20 if you can press or pull out the old bearing.
